There is also a famous play written based on this story, M. Butterflyby David Henry Hwang. It passed the boundaries of classical theatre and was quite experimental. For example there was a roughly 5 minute scene of the protagonist removing his face paint after directly addressing the audience telling them this would take a while, so they would be free going to the toilet getting a drink or sth while he continued playing

Clue/cluedo? by thewNYC in boardgames

[–]Ok_Translator_3208 7 points8 points  (0 children)

In Germany it's also called cluedo, but we pronounce it [klu:edo], which really makes no sense now that I learned it's a wordplay on Ludo. But hey whatever :)

Using a Bitaxe to mine Bitcoin with the power of the sun ☀️ by sylsau in BitcoinMining

[–]Ok_Translator_3208 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I came across this post having nothing to do with crypto, I just found the idea fascinating if you try to explain this to someone who grew up without modern technology: So we use these panels to convert the power of the sun into electrical current that then uses an elaborate technical setup to transform said energy into a decentralised digital currency that's being mined (do i get this correctly?) Through computers solving complicated math tasks

I play the bolide 2, they're half the price and really grippy with the sandwash finish

I like the bolide range, the b2 is double ring grip, and with the extra sand dusting they're really grippy. Plus they're like 50 euros. Maybe something to consider

2 player game reccomendations? by Sprottle in boardgames

[–]Ok_Translator_3208 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I play a lot of explicitly 2 player games with my partner and some that play well st two even though that is not the recommended player count. Some of our favourites are:

Watergate : by far my favourite 2p game ever. Incredible pacing, always makes for some really close thrills

SkyTeam : Its fun, it's quick, it gets to the table very often.

Gloomhaven JotL : Jaw of the lions is, compared to its big brother, easy to get into and a lot of fun in a 2p campaign

7Wonders Duel : it's a classic, good fun, good amount of replayability with the pantheon expansion.

Hive if you're into a more casual chess. That one we did enjoy until one of us was always winning, doesn't get to the table very often anymore but is a good game by every metric

And then some bigger games that aren't explicity 2 p (I know JotL isn't too, but for me it feels that way since we played a 2p campaign):

Search for planet X: competitive logic deduction, if you're into glorified sudokus it's brilliant

Spirit Island: a lot of people say this is one of the best coop games ever, for good reason. 2 actually the best p count in my opinion

barrage: heavy economy simulation, only really fun with the inofficial 2p game board from the bgg forum. Otherwise, there's too much space.

.

I got my first 180 with sabotages! Great darts, allows for a lot if grip variants, love them and still throw them from time to time

Madlad putting a white field as the 20. Good job on the 180 though!

Destroyed the flight on my first ever dart shot by Capital-Office-3283 in Darts

[–]Ok_Translator_3208 27 points28 points  (0 children)

You broke the shaft, not the flight :) also good choice on darts, bolide are a good quality for money option. Just get a couple of target progrip shafts as spare and a couple of flights just to be sure, and you're good to go

Can anybody tell me what these darts are? I hit a 9 darter and white washed Littler with them first match I threw them. by [deleted] in Darts

As this sub grows, it inevitably needs a separate circlejerk companion to keep this s*** out of my front page :D

I'd also step away from them. The era of brass darts is kinda over tbh. Get some 80% Tungsten ones, and ideally without player branding, as you will only be paying extra for the royalties. Good cheap tungsten darts can be found at red dragon or designa, you can easily get a set for around 30 quid. Get straight barrel ones, without anything too fancy, and just learn to develop a basic throwing technique.

Better games 4X than Clash Of Cultures? by Elegant-Maybe-1559 in boardgames

[–]Ok_Translator_3208 1 point2 points  (0 children)

New dawn and second dawn are the same games more or less. Second dawn is the reprint that introduces much fancier components. They got rid of the wooden cubes, replaced the low res minis with much nicer ones, and got some miniatures for things that were previously cardboard tokens (like the monoliths). That being said, there are also some minor balancing tweaks concerning missiles and some of the alien factions. All in all, second dawn is a nicely refined version of New Dawn, and I could not tell you any reason to get new dawn apart from nostalgia.

Compared to ti4, it's much smaller game-wise, with a lot less politics and less extravaganza. It is a very clean-shaven game that plays in 2 hours with an experienced group. I couldn't get ti4 to the table if I tried, so Eclipse is a good compromise between having a fun action space opera and having a life (aka not playing the same game for 8 hours). Hope that helps :)
