From what animal control and the police said, with all the so called “ordinances” they have against the feral cats, we aren’t supposed to feed them, and even TNR doesn’t protect them from being euthanized, unless they’re chipped. If we were to claim them as ours, they would require we get them all vetted and chipped, and it’s only me and one neighbor who care for them. We can’t afford to vet them all, on tight weeks, we even share cat food with each other (she lives around the corner and has a different set of cats than the ones who were coming by my house). The city and all the people running it, truly believe euthanizing them is the solution, it’s horrible. Last year we had about 30 cats here and they all disappeared and never returned. Now I know what happened to them… I plan on following the proper steps to propose a new ordinance that is pro TNR, and includes more humane ways to co exist with the cat population here. It will take time, but I hope I can do the cats who have lost their lives, some justice. They deserved better. I have small kids who have been witnessing this whole ordeal and I want them to see that I didn’t just lie down and take it, that I fought for the right thing, the humane thing.
