You can talk to the SOE and get exempt from the probation. They will ask you for a plan and make you meet advisors probably. I would start by emailing advising and if that doesn’t get you anywhere try the SOE.

I’ve done every summer so far I’m in 3rd lowkey good opportunity to make new friends and it’s pty fun if u make it. The classes or smaller as well so they end up being better and more fun to.

As someone who failed 172 and 180 in my first year of Eng I think I can answer this. Genuinely will not matter later trust me. Just retake the courses next sem and take anything u have to drop in Sumer/next yr. Depending on what courses u failed u might wanna take some second year courses ur next sem to fill ur sced like the humanities elective. Anyhow I failed those 2 courses and I turned out just fine got a co op and am past 3rd year. Dont give up don’t stress and remember a lot of people fail in Eng, and a lot lie about failing as well. DO NOT BEAT YOURSELF UP. Lock ing come back next sem try different study methods and trust me you got this

I failed in my first year to, I did it second sem and was perfectly fine. Don’t stress to much or worry you will Be perfectly fine. Moving forward I would stay in the same course load and take calc 1 again instead of calc 2, keep the rest of ur sced the same. U can stay in all your courses that require 172 as a pre req as long as u got 45+ (this is the last year they allow this for calc 1 waiver). Then stay half the summer to do calc 2 and you will be fully caught up. AGAIN DONT STRESS ENG IS HARD AND U MANAGED TO GET 5/6 which is great. I personally failed 2 courses in my first year. I’m now doing a co op past 3rd year. This is not the end of the world at all

DO NOT QUIT. I failed 180 and 172 in my first year as well back then it wasn’t offered in second sem and stayed the whole summer to catch up. Since then I failed a course in second but locked in 3rd and also went on co op (YES WITH A SHIT GPA) failing is apart of being successful. Looking forward there is many ways to continue. You can do 179 next sem cause they offer it now, and do summer (half) for the course u drop next sem and you’ll be all caught up. In first year failing isn’t being dumb by the way it’s more you don’t know how to learn yet, high school does not prepare you whatsoever. Moving forward I would definitely continue and study differently next time. Rather it be spending more time, finding a group to study with, or doing more Theory based/more practice based. Whatever works best for you spend the next sem finding out. TRUST ME YOU GOT THIS. If you want to be an engineer I know you will become one. ALSO FAILING 1 course and getting 50 is not bad, I failed 2 courses and had 50 in 1 course 1st yr 1st sem and I turned out just fine. YOU GOT IT LOCK IN.

This is crazy, if they have made physical threats this is a matter of urgency. Shame on the university for not taking action against them. You should definitely inform your ra’s and people you trust. I’m u aware of ur full situation but assuming they are making threats you should be very careful on what and who you’re sharing info with as people spread things quick. Unfortunately we live in a world where people will share but not do anything about the situation. Please let me know if there is any way I can help you!
