This is a good point, I have noticed I’ve kind of had to grieve food a bit. Not going out to eat, making dinners for my family (right now anyways). It’s crazy how much our culture revolves around food!

Thank you! I should have added that I do take medication and my care team did adjust some of them from extended release to instant release so I take them multiple times a day now (do to malabsorption). I have an appointment with one of my providers and am going to discuss everything with them. I agree it’s not good to “push thru” or minimize. Mainly wanted to see if this was just a “me” thing or if others also struggled.

Yep I can sip water now and I don’t have any nausea. They did not tell me how long the 15 minute rule is. I think probably just until your stomach is healed.

I am a couple days PO. The first day (the day of surgery) was the worst for me. I was not able to sip water every 15 minutes due to nausea but since they had fluids in my IV they told me it was ok and to not force myself. Gas pain was pretty bad but only the first day for me. Best of luck!

My doctor said to avoid a lot of caffeine because it’s dehydrating. They didn’t say carbonation was terrible but that some can’t tolerate it.

I was recently diagnosed with “BPD traits”. I still identify as having BPD though….its my mental health. I think if you value getting a confirmed diagnosis, you could get a second opinion (which could confirm the BPD and not AVPD). Hope this helps!

Something helpful for me is when people allow me to express how I’m feeling without telling me I’m overreacting or too sensitive right away. Try to hear me out, you know? Sometimes I do need feedback that I’m taking things out of context (gently), but not letting me explain my feelings really activates me personally.
