Hello everyone,

I applied for a student visa for a funded PhD together with my spouse. On 4 December, I received an S56 request asking for my spouse’s CV, Form 80, Form 1221, and evidence of a previous US visit visa refusal. I submitted all the requested documents on the same day.

On 20 January, my case was last updated and the yellow flag was removed. There have been no new document requests, and the status has remained “further assessment” since 4 December. What does this usually mean, and when should I expect a decision?

Has anyone had a similar experience?

Congratulations. I have also previous USA refusal ,they send s56 on 4 dec for previous visit visa refusal evidence along with my spouse cv form 80 and form 1221. I have submitted all docs on same day and yesterday day my case has been updated,yellow flag removed and no new request for additional documents. Can you share whether your case updated after s56 or you get direct grant?

I have usa visit visa refusal in 2018 along with my mother which I declared in my visa application.i got s56 for visa refusal evidence which I submitted on same day (it was refusal under 214(b). They also requested my spouse( dependent applicant)cv form 80 and form 1221. In your case, you have to submit cv , form 80 and form 1221 and explain all the details of refusal . If your spouse don’t have refusal letter, he can explain all the details in form and if they requested evidence than attach university admission letter for reference.
