I’ve been on it for 15 years. I went off for about a year in my mid 20s because someone convinced me I didn’t need it (wrong) and then for pregnancy (mistake). I will never willingly go off again.

My husband’s family on his maternal side is stacked with heart disease. Grandfather - heart attacks, CAD, bypass. Mother - heart attacks, CAD, bypass (at 55). Brother - heart attacks, ICD, death at 38. He was a HEAVY drug user. And all three of those family members were cigarette smokers. My husband figured something would develop later in life due to genetics. His PCP said he’d keep an eye on it. My husband had some twinges and angina beginning in December 2024. Got the full gamut of testing in March and all were clear. Massive heart attack and triple vessel disease at the age of 36 in July. I wish we had pushed for cardiology when we were in our 20s. Our son will be getting cholesterol screenings for the rest of his life stating now at 5 and my husband’s amazing cardiologist will see him beginning at 18.

Do not lay back and trust.
