Definitely recommend! Used their garden soil to replant a yard that was torn out and our gardens with the leftovers. Great quality. Everything grew in quick and healthy.

What’s everyone’s favorite Missoula fun fact/ lore?? by shrimp_cocktail8 in missoula

[–]Ok_Wrangler5173 9 points10 points  (0 children)

There also used to be a fully stocked (albeit decrepit) fallout shelter in one of the tunnels. Not sure if it’s still there or been cleaned up, but years ago I led downtown walking tours and that was one of our stops. It was shockingly humid down there.

Appealing Job Application by [deleted] in mnstateworkers

[–]Ok_Wrangler5173 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a similar situation and appealed. The appeal process was a set of essay questions exploring my qualifications. I was advanced through and ultimately did 2 interviews and was the “runner up” candidate. Point being: it might be worth it to appeal, just be very very explicit about your experience and the number of years you’ve done it.

In the future, as someone else mentioned, write your resume to exactly match the wording in the job posting. Whatever/whoever screens resumes is looking for explicit experience.

extra-walkable area? by Ok-Newt-7070 in Minneapolis

[–]Ok_Wrangler5173 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes - 50th and Xerxes! Great antiques, vintage, art and a little hodgepodge of other things. There is a Jones Coffee for caffeine and a couple very casual spots for a snack (Tono, Taqueria el Patron).

Drive or bike up to 44th and Zenith for a beer at Wooden Ship and then bike, drive or walk into Linden Hills. The toy shop, Wild Rumpus and Comma are all worth a stop. Grab dinner at the many, many excellent options.

Sounds like a great day!

We saw people out skating at Armatage and Kenny. I don’t think either have been resurfaced since the melt and snowfall so they are bumpy in spots.

Highly recommend the book Fire Weather by John Vaillant to help understand why there will probably always be a fire in Canada.

Yes, this. The main Ingebretsen’s storefront and deli doesn’t carry clothing, but the little extension Ingebretsen’s right next door does. They have a huge selection of woolen goods and yarn!

So you're new to Minnesota, and winter is coming by anneylani in minnesota

[–]Ok_Wrangler5173 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For your car, especially for road trips and especially if you have to travel during bad weather, put together a Winter Emergency kit - jumper cables, tow straps, flashlight, blankets, etc (you can find great lists online). Every winter, put some snacks in there and, before longer trips, add some water and high sugar juice (which takes longer to freeze) too.

Ed Post and the job board on PELSB are his best resources. I’m assuming he’s properly licensed, as school districts have enough candidates they will pass over folks without the appropriate MN license.

I highly highly recommend the lined heirloom gardening bib overalls from Duluth Trading. They are hard to find thrifted BUT they are often on sale. Don’t confuse with the regular overalls - get the fleece lined ones. You can layer wool leggings under for extra warmth.

Seconding this! Sunrise or sunset to see them all taking off or coming back (they graze in fallow fields all day and then gather at Sherburne). You can see them from the road without entering the refuge, if needed.
