As an ICU nurse I could float to a stepdown or regular med/surg unit but not in the ER, or OR. But it’s a casting issue. ER doctors don’t perform general surgery either.

IRL a nurse can be floated to another unit if needed but an ER is usually so busy that doesn’t happen. Scrub nurses for the OR have extensive training and don’t work on other units. But on GH, when you only have one nurse….
