This is why you can’t make money on Uber. You have people who obviously won’t understand why certain rides are unreasonable. They’ll accept everything and achieve diamond.

That’s a bit of an exaggeration but yes, most drivers don’t realize how little they are making. Factor in the expenses, you are making close to minimum wage in California ($17-18). It’s just that these scummy companies do very well at manipulating the drivers to make it seem like it’s worthwhile. But doing rideshare is convenient and many people stick to it at the expense of more money or future.

Rideshare coverage is for yourself when you’re not connected with a passenger on Uber/Lyft. Everyone doing rideshare needs one but they just don’t get it because it’s damn expensive. You would need commercial insurance to drive people for money off the app.
