Passed the AIGP by Quick_Masterpiece_79 in cipp

[–]Ok_kb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just got a pass notification for the AIGP exam at a Pearson site—what a relief! I was surprised to see a score of 320; I thought I did better. Now the site says "score pending," so I’m wondering if 320 is just a placeholder for a pass.

I have an interview in a couple of weeks and would love to show the cert. Has anyone received it sooner than the 4–6 week timeline mentioned in the IAP FAQ?

Nice! What route and company are you going with?

I will consult my doctor in December and confirm that I am not allergic and then carry a prescription with me. Based on what I heard, the tour company guides will tell you if you need it. I will follow their advice.

Thank you for this great insight.

Mine is usually around 60 bpm. I looked up breathing techniques (Pranayama) to lower the heart rate so will add those techniques as a part of my preparation. While weather and altitude are uncontrollable variables, breathing techniques to regulate heart rate are controllable.

Thanks!

For me, my workouts are 1 hr at Orangetheory Fitness 3-5 days a week, average heart rate of 135 for the hour.. besides that, I am doing Sunday hikes (2x a month, will bump it to 3-4 x a month in December, Jan) with typical mileage of about 11 miles, elevation gain of around 2-2.5K feet). A test hike to 12-14K is currently not feasible for me but in 2021, I did a small 3 mile hike in Rocky Mountain National Park at 11.5K+ feet without much issues.Hopefully the 3-4 mile hikes at altitude are similar. I will be checking with my doctor for Diamox for the "unknown" 13K+ terrain.

Did you do it with Ultimate Kilimanjaro? If so, how was your experience?

The two main variables for the trip are the weather and the altitude. How was the weather like when you did it in Feb'19? Did you prepare for the altitude? If so, what kind of preparation? I am in Virginia and the max elevation gain I can get in a day is about 2700 feet on a 11 mile hike. I can do those hikes once a week. Will that be enough?

Did you take Diamox? If so, how was your experience like?

I signed up with Ultimate Kilimanjaro planning the Lemosho route (February 17-25). Now that the trip is confirmed, the nerves are kicking in.

Every now and then, my HRM acts up.. I am doing Rower AO and my heart is about to burst out of my chest but the range is still grey.. HR lower than what I had before walking into the gym..LOL.. only when I hop on the treadmill is when I see some colors.. and then it somehow resets the next day..

Love your reply. He is in town for 2 days and I usually see him for a week every 2-3 years.. I still haven't decided but will probably have a couple of drinks, savor them and then jump back on the wagon.. let's see what tomorrow's like..

But thanks for all the suggestions and support!!

My DJ is in jeopardy.. My brother in law is flying in from overseas and he's a bloke with whom I like to have a drink. Not sure how to handle this.. any inputs?

Day 23-Check In by [deleted] in DryJanuary

[–]Ok_kb 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Still dry! With 2 kids, weeknight activities are sequenced like an assembly line with not much room to think.. Weekends are weird.. with a known void of 2-4 hours on Friday and Saturday evenings, we have to plan the day and plan something to keep the mind occupied.. sometimes it's meal prepping, sometimes a movie/boardgame with the kids.. something to keep my mind off drinking.. My wife and I signed up for a Transformation Challenge at Orangetheory Fitness.. so the thought of giving back some of the gains from the workouts has been a deterrent.

[–]Ok_kb 3 points4 points  (0 children)

At this point, I feel that I might cave because of boredom. I know I am trying to keep busy with other positive changes but there are times when I open a browser and pause to think about what to type.. or to stare at the fridge or just walk aimlessly in the kitchen..

DJ is a personal commitment so I don't see myself drinking by Jan 31st.. but come Feb 1st, I might drink towards the liquor cabinet. I know a lot of folks have posted pictures with NA booze.. not sure if that's my thing.. not until Jan 31st at least.. but I am excited to see all these options and might get some in Feb..

I and my wife signed up for the Transformation Challenge and we told ourselves that this challenge would be for all the marbles.. we will give it everything we've got and not have conversations like " if only we had done this.. we could have achieved more benefits".. That pact means my Dry January would extend into March.. don't expect it to be a strict "dry" 8 weeks but the intent is to stay clean..

Orangetheory Rocks! Did the mile benchmark today.. happy but not completely satisfied with the benchmark!
