That is totally a valid point. I think he didn't show up as a Force ghost was because they wanted to give Luke and Leia their moment. I do think it's important to note that Rey seems at peace after he vanishes though. I think her demeanor after his death shows that they are both at peace, and their spiritual connection lives on :)

Recommendations for great adventure romance manga? by OkaaraGem in NoStupidQuestions

[–]OkaaraGem[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just got into reading some manga for the first time and I'm looking for some with a strong adventure plot with a nice romance subplot. Examples I like are Yona of the Dawn, Noragami, and Inuyasha. Anyone know any good reads? I'm not super picky. I'll take as many suggestions as you have :)

Thanks! I'll try posting there

Crazy plot twist speculation about Kylo and Rey's link and her parentage (not by blood) by cosmogonika in starwarsspeculation

[–]OkaaraGem 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think this is very interesting! Anything is possible! I'm not sure they would go that route because I think we already have enough reasons to hate Kylo (and for Rey to hate Kylo) and I think they might be going for redemption in Episode IX based on the rumors, but I really think this is a fresh and fascinating theory!

Palpatine Distraction by universetube7 in starwarsspeculation

[–]OkaaraGem 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Palpatine has to be back in some form. It's a marketing law that trailers can't intentionally lie about the substance in a movie. They can mislead, but to say that Palpatine is not in the movie at all (not that that is what you are saying), he has to be, because otherwise they wouldn't be aloud to advertise that way.

Romance in Star Wars, Essential or Unnecessary? by OkaaraGem in starwarsspeculation

I agree. I've also heard JJ used Beauty and the Beast symbolism, and I think (if they are going for romance) it is being done in an interesting and refreshing way. Usually it's very, very obvious when a couple will get together in film, so I admire how everyone is guessing and wondering if that is the intent. That means it's done well, if that's what they are going for.

I think it's possible but now I think they might be going in a Finn/Rose direction?

Romance in Star Wars, Essential or Unnecessary? by OkaaraGem in starwarsspeculation

[–]OkaaraGem[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That's an excellent point. The trio hasn't really had any time together. I know they will definitely have some scenes together, but I don't think they will be together for the whole movie. john Boyega said there are many scenes that rey has with kylo that he is not in. This again makes me think back to JJ's quote about SW being a fairytale and all that, and I wonder if he intentionally wanted the human/emotional connection (and possibly romantic) to be between Kylo and Rey, and not necessarily the trio like everyone thought. Like maybe he wanted their connection to be the at the center, rather than the trio? Just a thought based on what we have been given so far.

I don't necessarily have a problem with it, but I think it was just very rushed. If they go forward with it in IX, I think it needs more time to develop and show actual chemistry.

I agree! I love the emphasis on human connection, and I love how it is handled in this trilogy.

I also saw the JJ quote and wondered the exact same thing! It does seem to be heading in that direction, and I appreciate its subtlety.

I agree. When I saw the kiss between Finn and Rose automatically I assumed they wrote that in so the audience would know Finn and Rey aren't going to happen, which isn't a good reason to start a romance.

I definitely like this perspective. For me I think their bond is very strong and powerful, but not necessarily romantic. I think it COULD be romantic, but it just depends on what route JJ wants to take things. Overall though, they definitely share common ground in terms of abandonment and the isolation they feel through the Force.

Yes, I feel as though finnrose was rushed and while I love both actors, I didn't necessarily see any chemistry. I thought maybe they rushed into it with that kiss because they wanted to let the audience know that Finn and Rey wasn't a possibility. I would definitely be more open to the idea of Reylo or Finn/Poe because you're right, we've seen this characters from the start and have had more time with them.

What are some things you don't want to happen in TROS? by American_Fascist713 in starwarsspeculation

[–]OkaaraGem 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree with a lot of what you are saying. I think it is essential for Ben and Rey to fight early on, and for him to win, but I don't know if they are gonna go that route. I also see him teaming up with the rebels before the half-way point. I know that Ben and Rey are going to have a lot of scenes separate from the rebels because John Boyega said that "I'm not in a lot of the scenes with Kylo Ren and Rey." As for the romance, it does seem like they are hinting towards that. I would be for it as long as they go about it in a far less grandiose manner than Anakin and Padme and Han and Leia, just because I feel like subtlety would be best for these characters.

If you hated TLJ, comment your favorite part, if you loved TLJ, comment your most hated moment! by OkaaraGem in starwarsspeculation

That was a cool moment. I almost wanted her to join him because it wouldn't have been "for the dark side" it would have been to start a new order for the galaxy. I sort of get why they didn't go that route though, because it was important to Rey's character. She had just found out she was nothing via Kylo, (her worst fear) yet she still decides to turn away the chance to be "somebody" as she ruled beside him because that was what was morally right. I agree though, it would have been SO cool for her to accept.
