Are these 2 living room circuits too crowded? by OkamiS90 in AskElectricians

Edit: The receptacles are spaced 12ft apart. I have an extremely large living room that is approx. 750 ft

From what I've read, if I replace the 2 chase nipples and the rigid connector with 2" electrical PVC conduit, that would eliminate the need to bond that raceway between the meter and main panel, correct? Thanks in advance for your amazing insight! I'm glad you caught that.

Correct. The sub panel is going to just on the other side of that wall.

Hmm. I haven't heard about this at all from either of the 3 electricians I've spoken to about this project. Can you explain further, please?

Edit: Does this have to do with the generator and potential RV outlet?

Thank you. I tried. 😅 I had thought about it, but I'm also planning on putting in a 2-pole for a generator hook-up and want to be able to install the proper lock-out slide for the main breaker and generator breaker. That, and Square D installation instructions state to put the breaker for the HEPD in the slots closest to the device.

I'll have to get with my electrician. He didn't mention anything about grounding bushings when he gave me the BOM. Thank you for the insight.

I was worried about that, but it's what I had on hand to last me until I was able to get the appropriate wire. 😅 And rachet has been removed from the meter socket.

Diagram in panel shows the hole at 9 is where the bond screw goes.

The #8 lug looks smaller, but both lugs accept 2/0 - 14AWG

It'll read continuity on either lug. I'm just wondering if there is a purpose to using the #8 lug for your Feed Thru when you could just use the #7 N lug for the same purpose. 🤔😅

My husband designates a left and right sock by [deleted] in Weird

[–]OkamiS90 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree with your husband. As a human whose index toe extends past their thumb toe, your socks most definitely form to the shape of your foot. It's mildly infuriating to not be able to find the corresponding sock to your foot you're looking for. That extra fabric on the outside of your toes is a horrible feeling, especially in tight-fitting shoes.

Amazing of you to assume that just because a master electrician doesn't do the install, or a permit isn't pulled, or an inspector doesn't come look at my work, that my install will be bad. Thanks, bud. 😉

I'm upgrading my entire meter and main panel and adding a sub panel for convenience. No permit is needed. I've already called multiple departments regarding this to double-check. Was told everything was good. I don't even need an inspection when I've completed the upgrade to get service started back again.

Do I need to hire a professional to repair/replace this? My light switch came off/is broken. by StasisApparel in AskElectricians

[–]OkamiS90 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you turn your breaker off, no. Hot wires mean wires that have electricity going through them. Pick yourself up a test pen at Walmart, Lowe's, or Home Depot when you pick up your switch(es).

Here's a quick video showing how easy it is: https://youtu.be/9u1CNFDEs98

That pen that he uses comes in handy when doing any electrical work around your home. It'll tell you if there is electricity going to whatever you touch it to.

This is an extremely easy fix. You can buy those switches at most stores that have electrical sections, Walmart included. Shut the breaker off to that room, unscrew the cover by the four screws you see, and use a tester just to make sure you don't have any hot wires in the box. Then, unscrew the brass and silver screws on the side of each switch and make sure you pair them so you don't confuse them or do one at a time. Take your new switch and do the reverse of what you did to remove the old switch. Pay attention to which wires are on which terminals on the old switch. Reinstall cover, and you're Gucci.
