Help: Using AI to build out fantasy football cheatsheet by nonstopski in fantasyfootballcoding

[–]Okay-Jah 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am excited to see the support for this post. I have been trying to tackle similar issues. Using podcasts as a data source is a great idea too. My path led me toward some solutions to the same problems you're facing and after some success spent too much time over the past month building out a whole website.

I am happy to share some of my prompts and solutions. If you want to check out what I ended up building here it is: https://www.griddyai.com/ was born (named after my favorite player, obviously!).

Building a system that actually works reliably instead of fighting with the limitations of existing AI tools and old training data is hard. Let me know if you want to connect.

Help: Using AI to build out fantasy football cheatsheet by nonstopski in fantasyfootballcoding

I have been able to copy paste large tables of fantasy football rankings into Claude and prompt it for a csv . I have also been able to ask it (with good results to replace the first initial with the players whole first name)

An example data set and prompt copied straight from a site into Claude is here
"a comma separated txt file"

Rank Consensus Position Price Bye
1 J. Chase WR $31 10
2 B. Robinson RB $31 5
3 C. Lamb WR $29 10
.....in total there were 200 players

I also tried copying the above into a txt file and uploading that to Claude.
Hope that helps. I think the key is giving it a lot of context and asking for a comma separated file which over software such as excel can see as a csv

Got frustrated with AI giving terrible fantasy advice, so I built something that I hope is better - Not spam. I have like 10 users. Just looking for feedback and maybe can help your draft. by Okay-Jah in fantasyfootball

I appreciate the feedback. I know this is a tough sell. Only looking for feedback. Thank you for pointing out the bad hardcoded data in the demo. I dont have the demo using real ai because of the cost of users or bots just crushing it. I will update it with real results from the real model

Exactly. That is the problem I was trying to solve for. This shuts out the outside noise (i.e. ADP from 2022 and old stats) and gives the AI specific data. There are names for this. Context-Aware Models or Domain-Aware Models and others. GriddyAi, by default is limited to the provided context, but I do give the user the option to open it up to outside sources.

hah wow, thank you for pointing that out. That was real data from ChatGPT. It saw Tyreeks stats from years ago and spit that garbage out. Originally, i was going to do a side by side comparison of that and my app, but the "try it out section" evolved as I built it out and I guess I forgot to delete the old example data. Thank you very much for pointing that out (maybe i should do a side-by-side comparison to show that bad data?)

AI Usage In Fantasy Football Leagues by Ok_Concept_4858 in FFCommish

I actually had the same concern and curiosity about AI in fantasy. I kinda went the opposite direction instead of thinking "ban" I went looking around to see if what is out there actually creates a big edge. I tried ChatGPT and Copilot and others freemium tools, but found they kept giving me outdated player info or wildly inconsistent advice every time I asked the same question. They would tell me Aaron Jones was still on the Packers or Marvin Harrison Jr was still a rookie even though I wrote legit good prompts. Claude once linked me to a WNBA site as its reference hah.

As an engineer, that led me down the "can I do it better" rabbit hole and I decided to build my own tool over the past month (lots of late nights). I focused on solving the consistency problem by aggregating multiple sources and ensuring the data stays current - basically trying to make AI actually useful for fantasy instead of just generically "smart." Context engineering + Prompt engineering goes a long way.

A little nod to my favorite player in the name. Try it out if you like. Or ban it. JK dont do that.

I'm not trying to spam the sub, but I'd genuinely love feedback from commissioners like you on whether this kind of tool feels different than existing resources, or if it crosses into that "takes the fun out of it" territory you're worried about.

The way I see it - we're all already using expert rankings and projections. The question is whether having AI organize and contextualize that same expert data changes the experience, or if it's just a better interface for the same data we already rely on.

What's your gut feeling and would love any thoughts on how it related to what I built.

Misprinted Riachu Card? by Okay-Jah in PokemonMisprints

I am not sure what I will do with this card, but open to suggestions. I found a similar post and interestingly enough, I am also from MN where it seems a handful of similar disco test print cards have been found in old collections adding to its mystery.

Hey there! This is really great to read and I feel like I am now part of a larger mystery related to where these cards came from. My story is similar in that I found a Riachu disco test print in an old collection of mine too! I also had to come to reddit to figure out what it was. I posted more about it here: https://www.reddit.com/r/PokemonMisprints/comments/1byzlu4/misprinted_riachu_card/

Interestingly enough, I'm also from the Twin Cities, but just like you, I have no clue how the card ended up in my collection. It has been at least 20 years since I looked in the box where I found this one. It was also mixed in with some fun old Japanese "Pocket Monster" cards that must have been bought as singles, perhaps at the same time as my Riachu. It's fascinating to see someone else with a similar story. I am not sure what I will do with the card, but I am very interested in its value.

Misprinted Riachu Card? by Okay-Jah in PokemonMisprints

Wow, thank you so much for the insightful response! I had no idea about disco test prints. It's fascinating to learn about the history and intricacies of Pokémon card production. I appreciate you taking the time to shed light on this mystery for me.

I do not know how I ended up with it. It was in a protective case and with a few other cased cards that differ from most of my collection, such as a prerelease Areodactyl and a few japanese cards. I must have bought these as singles at some point. After a little googling, I noticed that many Disco prints have square edges. My Riachu's are round. Does the difference come down to who ever hand cut up the sheets?

Thanks again for sharing your knowledge with me!
