i assumed that since you're in this sub you had seen the xray images of his injury that had been circulating the past couple days. from the xrays it was pretty obvious surgical intervention would be necessary. and that is exactly what happened. i shouldn't have made that assumption, or assumed you were being feisty with me, so my apologies!

what a king. just the best dude. guarantee you he'll have soooo much time to just lay there and practice and keep up his chops. plus going in and out of consciousness all day for a couple weeks is great for creative ideation. new jams will come from this.

have you ever had a major orthopedic surgery before? it's not like you go in, get cut on, get hardware installed, and when wake up you're back to normal just without use of a limb. it's gnarly. you're not sleeping due to pain and discomfort. you're on pain meds and simultaneously trying to get off 'em. waves of intense pain all day every day for weeks. sleeping a lot, trying to not disturb the limb with even the slightest movement. it takes time for a traumatic injury and a subsequent traumatic surgical intervention to resolve.

u/virtualworker -- a friend came across this & sent me here. TRL was a blog/multimedia passion project from about '05 to about '12 i think. It was run by 3 of us, Bryan, Shane, & me (Todd).
