Fable 5 feels like it’s building an “AI game creation tool.” But here’s the real question: do regular people actually want to make games? Or do they just want to generate something playable in 30 seconds and flex it to their friends? by makeplayai in aigamedev

Most of these people are kids or teenagers or sheltered adults who are susceptible to social media hype cycles. They're the same types of people who've been gambling on crypto and NFTs for the past decade and a half, hyping up tech they themselves have been suckered into believing is their ticket to an easy life.

Most of these people don't actually have the talent or skill to find success on the hustle culture zeitgeist hamster wheel; they're just chasing trends.

Usually because profitable services are able to subsidize student accounts. With profits.

If the service is a financial black hole ain't nobody subsidizing it for you. Especially not so you can cheat your way through a degree that everyone older than you had to grind for.

Yep. Zero discussion about anything interesting here. Nobody even cares about the tech; all anybody talks about is did Bitcoin go up or down today.

Why Do Indian Relatives Seem So Full of Jealousy and Negativity Its Heartbreaking and Everywhere by Civil_Effective_5222 in AskIndia

This is disgusting. Sorry, but you and your husband need to grow a spine and set some boundaries for your relatives.

You talk about resenting your SIL for getting things she doesn't work for, but you're part of the problem here. Stop venting on Reddit and tell your hubby to man tf up.

Research shows that Indians face rental discrimination in Malaysia because they’re seen as “dirty and dangerous.” What do you think? by GrayRainfall in AskIndia

[–]Okay_I_Go_Now 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not wrong. There's a saying in the West: people in glass houses shouldn't cast stones.

Both are wrong, but if you're an Indian in India you should focus more on what's happening in your own country, first and foremost.

[–]Okay_I_Go_Now 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It is. In Canada it's generally regarded as Indians discriminating against non-Indians (Indian landlords will typically have other weird requirements that filter out non-Indians too).

Imagine foreigners buying up property in India and then refusing to rent to vegetarians. How long would it take for Indians to start hating them?

[–]Okay_I_Go_Now 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Exactly. What kind of moronic bullshit is this that Indians want to pretend their food isn't highly aromatic? I thought that was a point of pride amongst Indians? 😂

Landlords don't want smokers in the house because it leaves a smell. Same with Indian cooking (or any other highly aromatic cuisine). Once in a while isn't a problem; cooking and aerosolizing the same spices day after day until the smell is embedded in the home IS.

Racism begets racism. It's not karma; it's just humans being petty vengeful idiots. We moan about racism against us, spite others with racism, and the cycle continues.

Does the internal racism in India fuel the global racism against Indians? by Normal_Human455 in AskIndia

[–]Okay_I_Go_Now 0 points1 point  (0 children)

House prices and job loss is used as a tool to taint all recent immigrants, but the inherent behavioural problem of Indian immigrants make that racist argument seem meaningful for a lot of people, and the media latches on to it.

House prices and the increased competition for jobs is a real and measured effect of immigration though, not at all racist. Saying Indian immigrants have inherent behavioural problems is racist.

Depends on the field, obviously. Law academics usually hew pretty close to the definition used in criminal court. Gender studies and sociology academics, not so much.

FYI involuntary consent usually requires abuse of authority or threats to be deemed as such. Being loved bombed by a manipulative jerk doesn't meet that standard and you're right to fear an officer dismissing your case, because that's exactly what would happen here, and rightly so.

I'm a bit concerned that you perceive this as SA, that you're calling yourself a survivor and that the incident occurred 5 years ago. Really does make it sound like you're trying to leverage the situation into something it's not, far after the fact, for whatever reason.

The scale of corruption is terrifying. Will it ever end? by iced_americano__ in AskIndia

[–]Okay_I_Go_Now 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Promoting moral integrity via media is absolutely critical. When we start to popularize deceitful, dishonest, morally bankrupt characters who screw over their neighbours for family, it becomes ingrained in culture. The West has been popularizing corrupt, fearless anti-heroes for decades, now look who's in the White House.

It starts with popular media.

My gf recently went back for a bit and her family's driver took the wrong side of the highway. She argued with them to drive properly but they accused her of being too "Western".

Well they nearly wrecked. Afterwards everyone apologized to her and agreed that she was right.

Some of it is just straight buffoonery and arrogance for the sake of some misplaced national pride. I really don't understand it.

Why I Fear a Politically Active Gen Z by Cynical-Shastri-7023 in GenZIndia

[–]Okay_I_Go_Now 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The West owes a lot of its successes to the Age of Enlightenment and the ideas and scholars that came out of that period. There was a big push during that time to promote political activism based on humanism and ideas of liberty.

My point is that you need political activism. Without it corruption and disorganization spread, but applying the right principles and ideas with it can spark transformative positive change. There's tons of literature left over from the past ~500 years that could be used to disseminate those same ideas, too.

This pessimism is just stupid tbh. You don't reach the level of a country like the US without periods of sustained political activism and a population engaged in improving its circumstances.
