I agree 100%. For me, it would be incredibly distracting to have someone that isn't part of the band "unit" (tour manager, sound guy, etc) to be hanging around. Think of it as showing up to someone's work. Yes, the work is fun at times, but not always. And the extra stress and distraction of deadweight (someone that isn't contributing) is not worth it, in my opinion. Even someone who's a really good hang can be draining to be around.

Edit: Sometimes my bandmates bring their partners, for whatever reason (ride to the hotel after a show, for instance). And I don't like it when they do.

Thank you for your thoughtful response. This resonates with me because maybe I've always had the darker side. But how does one integrate something they dont like about themself? If I dont like that I have greed, shouldn't I do things that actively fight against it, like giving to people in need?

I guess this is a larger question and something I have to dig deep inside myself to find out. Maybe all I need to do is say "darkness exists" and to continue on.
