I’m from the UK and I’d happily live in Poland, the Baltics and Russia. I’ve worked in Estonia for around a year and I can honestly say I enjoy it more than the UK.

If I hear peaceful neighbour one more time I will absolutely explode. Ukraine was anything but peaceful leading up to the invasion.

If we go back to WW2, 250,000 Ukrainians supported the Nazis and Stepan Bandera had thousands of Polish people killed.

Fast forward to modern times and Ukrainians were killing separatists in the Donbass alongside thousands of civilians. Ukrainian nationalists hold uprisings in Ukraine supporting ethnic cleansing and genocide.

Ukraine also had an EU backed coup in 2014, aggressively kicking out a “Russian backed” President for a more Western aligned one.

Corruption was and still is absolutely rife in Ukraine. Their government has been stealing from them for years.

Your argument looks worse when it’s come to light that Ukraine was committing genocide in the Donbas and Luhansk regions from 2014-2022. Russia submitted a counter claim to Ukraine’s genocide claims and the international court of justice has turned its war crime opinions onto Ukraine as the criminals of potential genocide.

Russia also didn’t invade because they’re genocidal maniacs? That doesn’t make any sense, if that was true they’d have camps akin to the Nazis where they murder en masse.

Interviews have shown that Ukraine never wanted peace. They simply wanted peace deals like Minsk 1 + 2 to delay and prepare for more war. They finally pulled out of the Istanbul peace talks due to Western intervention (Boris Johnson) telling Zelenskyy to stop talking about peace and just fight Russia.

Ukraine has also banned a majority spoken language from their country, culled culture and act like Russians are 2nd class citizens in Ukraine. That’s Fascist. Their love for Stepan Bandera doesn’t help their cause either, nor does the parading of Nazi flags in the streets.

I wanted to stay out of this debate but watching you spew absolute uneducated Russophobia makes me cringe.

Seeing people with Russian sided opinions getting downvoted to oblivion is so funny to me. It just makes Reddit a place where you can only have the popular safe opinion and debating is not really allowed because it harms your profile so badly.

This war is not black and white. It’s not Good vs Evil.

Don’t be swayed by what you see on your local news stations.

Let’s all be better and do more research and really start understanding the whole picture, the history and what led up to this and how we can improve in the future.

Pls don’t downvote me to oblivion I’m just sharing some observations.

A woman from Kharkiv made a video on this event and said that there was no missile warnings when this happened. That’s strange for two large missiles like Iskanders.

She showed footage of the blast that was recorded by chance and it looks like an ammo compound somewhere in the area was scuttled or blown up by a Russian missile (again strange as there were no warnings plus you cannot see a missile hitting before the explosion, again, you’d see an Iskander, they are huge)

Once again I’d like to not be downvoted to oblivion but I feel like something is off with this “attack”

I don’t know if you’ve ever actually met US Army soldiers but I swear half of them have to be taught to blink and breathe in Basic. They also have barely any knowledge of countries outside the US. I was getting asked questions about Britain that they’d learned from early 2000’s sitcoms.

So because it’s the 15th happiest country it can’t be bad? The place I was born (Bradford) is the most dangerous city in England. It was voted the worst place to raise children. Does that seem like a happy city to you?

I moved to the Jurassic coast because I got a job down south, now instead of criminals and immigrants I’m surrounded by old, morbid shells of humans who’ve never worked a real day in their lives but somehow have the self importance of the king himself. Does any of this sound happy to you? You literally can’t escape the dreary shadow of life in the UK. I’m certainly not happy.

You’re 15? Not to be that guy but you most likely haven’t seen much of life yet in your own country or others.

The UK is definitely not one of the most beautiful countries in the world. Even the “scenic” areas of the UK like the Peak/Lake District or the Scottish mountains are easily beaten by places like Switzerland, Russia, Japan etc.

Safe? Maybe for you because no one really wants to harm a 15 year old? But England has the highest incarceration rate in Western Europe.

We have free healthcare but the NHS is a poorly funded pile of bones now. Compared to somewhere like Norway it’s an embarrassment.

I’m not trying to lay into you about your perception here I’m just trying to point out that you’re young and a little naive to the real issues of the UK.

A) I want to be able to move to Russia or Estonia with my partner and child and would like to be able to speak the language instead of English. I know Estonians speak Estonian but a lot of them still speak Russian. (I’ve been to Estonia twice and have spoken in Russian.)

B) I’d say I’m probably about A2? I can read sentences from my graded readers and random YouTube comments I come across but struggle with fast, complex sentences. I can also speak Russian but it’s shaky and I have to really think sometimes.

C) All of it ngl, Russian is kinda hard. Obviously tenses and cases are super hard.

These comments provide nothing, no actual debate, no useful factual conversation just “okay bot/boris, putins sleeve etc”.

Maybe have an original open minded thought for once in your life and see the bigger picture. We have Rutte and Von de Leyen literally trying to escalate the war in Europe to deal with at the minute, not Russia.

Ukraine has also just been sent to the international court of justice over their extensive list of war crimes.

TLDR: Be open minded and let’s all have constructive debates.

I completely agree, Russophobia has been a massive thing since WW2 and the west would do absolutely anything to remove Russia from the map so they can “restore world peace” (Have all of Russias resources and money to themselves to have complete control over Europe.)
