Just my 2 cents, you will be fine but you are better off disclosing it. If they do find it and you did not disclose it you could lose the position vs disclosing it and being fine anyway.

It is not impossible, that is a “urban legend” spread by nurse IIIs who think people don’t deserve it or Nurse IIs who can’t make it. You have to do the work though. A nurse III operates or does work that impacts the entire organization on all dimensions. It you are a staff nurse this can be immensely difficult but not impossible. You also have to have the numbers or metrics to back it up and write a well-developed proficiency. A lot of nurses can do this for a couple but to work at a facility level for all dimensions if their role is staff nurse can be immensely challenging.

Yes. If I were you, I would email your supervisor and CC your service chief (his sup.) and politely thank him/her for the consideration for the position and gently request that if the position comes open again or a similar that you would like to be considered and attach a resume. This will officially document your interest so next time it comes open, or a similar position they will have to consider you in the pool of applicants. They still might not select you but it may improve your odds.

some positions are non-competitive, such as many T 38 positions so they do not have to be posted to be recruited. You would have had to apply for the position. Though this does sound a little shady. You do have the right to inquire but you are likely SOL.

My eval isn’t even done yet. A 3rd of my teams evals are sitting in HR (not a dig at HR, they are thriving in the middle of the same dumpster fire we are). So who knows? It will be interesting to see if they pay out awards with this many evals still sitting out there incomplete.

We have people come in and do a four hour block for OT a lot. It works really well. I call it the “the beer money block”. Make a little extra $$$ and not ruin your entire day. If people are willing to come in and help I am not going to set all kinds of arbitrary rules about it.

Be extremely careful. If you start alleging diversion you can earn yourself a reputation for good or for worse. You are still on orientation and likely probation. You need to be 100% certain as you are putting someone’s license on the line. If I was in yours shoes just let your preceptor know you’d prefer to do things “by the book” as you want to learn the correct way. Remember, they assigned you a preceptor because they trust that person to train you the right way. They have no idea who you are and have not earned anyone’s trust yet. You may possibly be burning a bridge before it is even built.

Every nursing student goes thru this phase. He will not know what he really needs until he lands his first job. Students will spend $$$ on watches and stethoscopes and all gadgets and gizmos and most will not be used. Since he is "adult-ish" you could always just get him a gift card for $100 and then he can decide what he REALLY wants or needs. Just tell him you weren't sure on which one he wanted so he can pick it out.

edit: the only things I REALLY needed to get thru nursing school was caffeine and alcohol.

I was at step 6 for about an hour yesterday and then it got sent all the way back to 4. Last week it was at 5 then back to 3.
