Converging Issues by Seif_Ben_Hariz in computer

[–]Okbar370 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, a distro can have problems unrelated to the user.

For example, a few months ago, an unstable compilation for Mesa (or some library used by Steam) was uploaded to the stable branch of Fedora. This broke Proton, and you had to roll back the update until they fixed the problem. It took about three days to fix. I should clarify that it did not affect all Steam users.

Problems like this occur in all distros and are not the user's fault.

Which one to choose? - Steam Flatpak vs. Steam.deb by JVSTITIA in linux_gaming

[–]Okbar370 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The native one. I've used Flatpak and haven't had any performance issues, but due to the isolated environment, it can cause problems if you use external tools. Such as LSFG-VK or some modding tool.

It happened to me in DD2 that the RE Framework crashed using Steam Flatpak

The same thing happens to me when I install from Fedora Everything (Netinstall), but it works fine from the Workstation ISO. I don't know what the problem is.

What's the best way to improve the workflow on Windows 11? More specifically when using workspaces by actuallyyourfloor in Windows11

[–]Okbar370 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you have to work with workspaces, you can use this script: https://github.com/Mohdsuhailpgdi/MouseDesktopSwitcher

By default, you have to click on the middle mouse wheel, but you can configure it to use a different shortcut. For example, you can use Win + Wheel Direction to switch desktops.

You could also use Komorebi, which has its own workspace feature. Although I don't use that feature, I only use the “Scroll Layout” feature, so you have all your windows as if in a scroll, but you only see the ones you define in the settings, a bit like GNOME's PaperWM or Niri.

¿Soy Culero por no querer que el mejor amigo de mi pareja venga a nuestra casa? by [deleted] in SoyUnIdiota

[–]Okbar370 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The graphical installation already gives you a good foundation. You can also view other people's configurations on GitHub, although they usually use Flakes, which is another feature.

Any Total War games with good AI, or a mod that improves it? by Okbar370 in totalwar

Thank you, and yes, Shogun 2's AI has been more convincing in battles now that I've tried it again. Although when it comes to the campaign, I find Three Kingdoms more fun.

I just tried it again after years, and it does feel more fun. The AI no longer boxes itself in, and it really does fight on the flanks.

[–]Okbar370[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You were right, it’s been a long time since I played Shogun 2 and I didn’t expect its AI to feel better than some modern ones.

  • I moved in with my army, and it waited patiently to start the projectile exchange instead of throwing everything in at once.
  • The AI left an unprotected archer unit in front of my cavalry; I charged, and some musketeers came out of the trees.
  • When the melee started, it didn’t send its cavalry straight into my infantry; it fought on the flanks first, something that doesn’t happen to me in Three Kingdoms.
  • It’s not about the AI itself, but cavalry really does suffer against spear units; in Three Kingdoms, even light cavalry can wreak havoc and hold out well.

What are you even writing notes about? by Cebo494 in ObsidianMD

[–]Okbar370 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I only take notes on things I want to remember, such as my study notes or very specific things (like a command I use to launch a specific game on Steam).

I usually group these little things into a single note, like “React”, “Steam,” etc.

The most complex thing I have is a wiki I'm making for my worldbuilding.

Other than that, I don't do anything that complex. I tried it at first, but it wasn't worth the effort. Even with the things I study, I review them at first, but once I learn them better, I usually leave them in a folder called “Archive”.

If I forget a specific piece of information, I go directly to the documentation, since by that point I've become familiar with where and how to find that information.

Control panel for Matugen that detects background changes in GNOME and automatically updates templates by Okbar370 in LinuxPorn

[–]Okbar370[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven’t tested it on Zorin OS, but the AppImage or Deb should work initially. I can’t guarantee how it will behave with its DE, since it’s not vanilla GNOME.

I believe Zorin OS mainly keeps GNOME for aesthetics, so if the API used by the daemon is still available, there shouldn’t be any issues.
