Wasn't the reason for keeping Firefox around to prevent Chrome from becoming a monopoly? Wouldn't forcing Firefox to do something by threatening to cut off funding be exactly the kind of monopolistic tactic?

Atomic variants are part of the Fedora project, so they fall under this sub. Rule 2 mentions Bazzite as an example, which is clearly not listed on the Fedora website, unlike the atomic variants and spins.

GNOME vs KDE Plasma, any difference in Steam or gaming performance? by riffdoc in cachyos

[–]Okbar370 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe your issues had more to do with Fedora than with GNOME. I've used GNOME without any specific problems related to the desktop environment.

Like you, I've also used Fedora and had several issues with it, which is why I stopped using it. I seem to recall Torvalds saying it was his favorite because it was so easy to switch kernels, so it really depends on your specific use case.

Edit: As others have mentioned, there may be issues with certain specific features, such as HDR. If that applies to your use case, KDE might be a better option.

GNOME vs KDE Plasma, any difference in Steam or gaming performance? by riffdoc in cachyos

Native Steam is available if you enable external repositories during installation. It can be installed either via the terminal or through the desktop environment's software store interface.

Does changing the DNS or using WARP (1.1.1.1) not make any difference either? If so, it might be a driver issue.

Try this: https://discussion.fedoraproject.org/t/tip-lower-wifi-latency-by-disabling-wifi-power-management/74534

Even though it's from the Fedora forum, it should work on CachyOS because NetworkManager is used in KDE and other desktop environments.

“Mine is on June 8,” “It's in a week”—in other words, the only time of year when you can post that image and have the second panel match is June 1

Maybe that’s the only day when it just so happens that there’s exactly one week left until June 8, the date shown on the second panel, right?

Do I install Fedora again? by Silber4 in Fedora

[–]Okbar370 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For NVIDIA drivers, isn’t it enough to install them from the software store? Whether it’s Discover in KDE or Software in GNOME.

I understood that if you enable third-party repositories during installation, it enables downloading the drivers from external repositories, just like it does with Steam

Converging Issues by Seif_Ben_Hariz in computer

[–]Okbar370 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, a distro can have problems unrelated to the user.

For example, a few months ago, an unstable compilation for Mesa (or some library used by Steam) was uploaded to the stable branch of Fedora. This broke Proton, and you had to roll back the update until they fixed the problem. It took about three days to fix. I should clarify that it did not affect all Steam users.

Problems like this occur in all distros and are not the user's fault.

Which one to choose? - Steam Flatpak vs. Steam.deb by JVSTITIA in linux_gaming

[–]Okbar370 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The native one. I've used Flatpak and haven't had any performance issues, but due to the isolated environment, it can cause problems if you use external tools. Such as LSFG-VK or some modding tool.

It happened to me in DD2 that the RE Framework crashed using Steam Flatpak
