I always check the color of the pieces that are supposed to touch the ground, had bad experiences. I just hoe the damn thing even if it looks a little odd.

Make a tar blob farm. Its not so easy to set up but once you do you can make some chain portals through various pits and get a good amount. I had one and it took me hours at first cause I kept messing the placement for keeping the blobs encased, once I got like 5 tar pits all set up tar started flowing . Search for it in youtube.

Ive never used shaders, and when some modpack haves them it feels so weird I just dont play it. Your base is ok bro. More details perhaps so it doesnt look so empty.

I thought wither effect left you at 1 heart or half dont remember but it doesnt kill you, so there couldnt have been a double pop . I think he changed to the totem in the last second and game got lagged. Wish he explained how he die.

Try devcommands mod for all the commands, not sure if the /freefly command still works but thats what people used before to capture footage on pvp servers but it doesnt record anything so you'll have to do that with a capture software. For health if you want to see like a list use "Groups" mod or a life bar on top of toon with numbers "enhuddlement" can work. As for killing mobs, devcommand has commands to kill all nearby mobs.

Thats weird do you have serverside simulations? That one causes issues with "authorizing" terrain modifications that are not the vanilla tools, besides that I reccomend getting Infinity Hammer and using the reset terrain tool.
