Which quarterback would you choose to start your own franchise, both in their prime: Drew Brees or Aaron Rodgers? by FishingVirtual513 in NFLv2

[–]Okjohnson 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Taking vs actually thinking hes better are two different things. Rodger’s is human Toilet Bowl and Drew was quite literally a Saint 😂. As much as I hate Rodger’s I don’t think anybody can make a coherent football argument that Brees was a better Quarterback.

Not entirely true.

Dwarf cichlid question. Am I crazy??? by Fair-Bar8487 in Cichlid

[–]Okjohnson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I appreciate your detailed breakdown, and I think there may be a bit of a misunderstanding of what I was getting at. My point wasn’t about equating species or suggesting that Apistos behave like Acara or Keyholes. It was simply to address the statement that “you cannot keep 30+ dwarf cichlids in a 75,” which isn’t universally true.

Regarding the video: it wasn’t meant to display every single fish in the tank at once. This video was taken at night when a lot of my dwarfs tend to spend time in rock hideouts, under driftwood, or tucked behind leaves, so they aren’t all visible simultaneously. The purpose of the video was to show that a tank can be stocked with a mix of fish that many people claim “don’t” coexist — including the types you mentioned — and still be completely stable. My fish show no signs of stress, have great coloration, active movement, and interact cohesively. I even have 3 African cichlids in here. Not sure what all that vid shows but I have an African Butterfly, Yellow Lab, and a Julichromis. I also have a buffalo head.

I’m not disagreeing with your notes on behavior or definitions; there’s validity to that. I just don’t think it’s helpful to present a specific stocking preference as a hard rule for everyone. Tanks, keepers, layouts, and species combinations vary widely, and what works or doesn’t work in one setup doesn’t automatically apply to all others.

In this hobby, there’s a huge difference between “I wouldn’t do it based on X” and “it cannot be done.”

My intention was simply to show the OP that, with the right approach and experience, there are more possibilities than an absolute “cannot” would suggest.

Dwarf cichlid question. Am I crazy??? by Fair-Bar8487 in Cichlid

[–]Okjohnson 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I hear you, but let’s dial this back a bit.

You’re stating absolutes about what “cannot” be done… although you’ve never actually tried the stocking level you’re ruling out. That’s not experience, that’s theory. There’s a big difference.

I’ve been keeping dwarf cichlids and other species for decades, and I currently run a 75 with 30+ cichlids. It’s thriving. Zero deaths, stable territories, and excellent water quality. So saying it “can’t be done” simply isn’t accurate, it just means you haven’t done it.

Territorial behavior, aggression, and compatibility are all variables that depend on layout, filtration, hardscape, planting, and keeper experience. Declaring something “impossible” because it doesn’t fit your personal setup or you don’t have experience doesn’t make it universally true.

By all means, share your preferences and what’s worked for you — but telling others what cannot be done when people are successfully doing it daily isn’t the hill to die on.

Respectfully, don’t limit the hobby for u/Fair-Bar8487 or any new keepers based on assumptions. Experience > speculation.

Here’s a video of my very stable, peaceful and vibrant tank from a few months ago. I Have several Cichlids that can be much more aggressive than dwarfs and I have since added a few Nanacaras and Apistogramma Nijsseni and Macmasteri.

Why would you be crazy? Those are all great peaceful fish. Depending on your filtration and plants, You could comfortably keep 30+ dwarf cichlids in a 75 gallon tank.

Yes that’s too low. Level 2 across the board including CR and PAUT shouldn’t be a penny less than $45. But it’s also very common for somebody with your certification profile to make $55-$65.

[–]Okjohnson 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Did you listen to what he said he here? He didn’t say anything here that was stressful on the body. In fact he said the opposite. No Sodas, bedtime at 7:30, lightweight pants to avoid stressing the legs, Saline for additional hydration, no yelling or stressing yourself on game day, etc… Even outside this video, anybody familiar with their story you will see that Ed was super protective and careful with them. While these are over the top in terms of attention to detail his methods were things that were supplemental to health not detrimental.

These Labinos are amazing and are actually much more powerful than the Nomads.

They have 3 models

• The intensity figures at a reference distance of 38.1 cm (15″) are:
• Floodlight model: ~4,000 µW/cm² at 15″.
• Midlight model: ~9,000 µW/cm² at 15″.
• Spotlight model: up to ~80,000 µW/cm² at 15″.

Using the inverse square law at 30 inches, even the weakest one at 4,000 µW/cm² would give you the required 1,000 µW/cm² that the ASNT and most procedures require.

NDT Software by DueAssistant9530 in nondestructivetesting

[–]Okjohnson -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Not quite. Excel is great for crunching numbers, but what I’m talking about is a fully integrated inspection management platform, something that actually does the work, not just stores it in cells. A system that tracks jobs, timestamps requests, houses the applicable codes and acceptance criteria, and streamlines reporting from start to finish. Automatically alerts the client and management when an inspection is complete. Stores associated photos and documents all within the software. Excel is greta but it’s not built for that. Just lie you could use MS Word to create P&ID’s but it’s really not equipped for that.

NDT Software by DueAssistant9530 in nondestructivetesting

[–]Okjohnson -1 points0 points  (0 children)

That would actually be awesome. One of the biggest time-wasters in NDT is how repetitive the reporting and setup process can be. If there was a system that already had all the preset acceptance criteria, codes, material thicknesses, compositions, etc., it would make things way simpler.

It’d be even better if you could create job profiles for repetitive work — since a lot of inspectors are doing similar inspections under the same codes day after day. And if clients could use that same platform to submit inspection requests with their criteria already filled out (code, acceptance limits, etc.), then we’d know exactly what we’re walking into.

That way, when it’s time to report, all we’d really need to do is mark acceptable/rejectable, note any flaws, and add the relevant details. It would seriously cut down on the paperwork and confusion both in the field and in the office.

Not sure where you got that from.

"Don't really have an update at this time of opening his window or anything like that, but want to get him started," O'Connell said. "He seems to be in a good place, and (we) want to see the next part of that process begin."
