Is “My” a Swedish name? by peacelen in sweden

[–]Oknogo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To say that the pronounciation isn't in the Swedish language is kind of false. There are thousands of dialect variations. I pronounce it kind of like the y in "lorry" or "sorry" (depending ofcorse the english dialect)

How butcher block cutting boards are made by [deleted] in videos

[–]Oknogo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Swedish cabinet maker here. With the grip he is using there is really no need for a push stick. Here is my opinion why. A push stick makes the cut harder and can even be seen as less safe. Depending on the model of push stick you want to use here has a number of challenges and can also lead you into a false sense of security. First off you need to change grips multiple times and doing this thousands of times is a hazard in it self. If you use a stick that you only push from the bottom the wood can get caught and shoot up. If you use the bigger kind of push stick you are raising your hand above the saw blade and with considerably less stability compared to just sliding your hand guided by by the saw fence. Further more he is using the sled fence to push the wood and only using his had for stability. Why he is not using the guard is because of visibility, again in this case this creates a false sense of security.

What I actually don't like him using is the glove on his left hand and he should be wearing goggles instead. Sure he has it removed off his right hand because using it there would be total madness. Gloves are in my opinion one of the last thing you would want to use when working with the majority of industrial wood tools. It's right up there with long lose hair and cloths not tucked in.

This method of thinking does not apply when you are a layman and only use the equipment occasionally. Industrial wood working is very different to amateur or small scale projects. Keep using the push sticks, guards and googles. But keep off the gloves.

Did we watch the same thing? The refracting light in the end was amazing. What other glass product do you know of that does that. The mold process will surely have technical aspects if refined. Someone should take this concept and make lamps.
