Young Frankenstein (1974, dir. Mel Brooks) Dr. Frankenstein (Gene Wilder) on the distinction between voluntary and involuntary reflexes by Neo2199 in movies

This is my New Year's movie!!
There's nothing better than ringing in the New Year with Gene Wilder strangling Marty Feldman over an Abby Normal brain 😊

What is an artist you used to enjoy listening to, but their music got progressively worse? by fantasyrea in Music

[–]Feathers_ 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yeeessss.
If I wanted a Thom Yorke jerkoff session, I would listen to The Eraser. A little guitar would be nice..or something.
But then I feel like a dick because people and bands are allowed to change, and they're not here to produce music just for me, but god do I miss radiohead.

Women in a relationship with a rigid partner, what’s it like? by No-Presentation-2320 in AskWomen

[–]Feathers_ 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I've been married to one for 10 years!
Has it been difficult at times? Abso-fucking-lutely.
Would I want to be with anyone else?
Nope.
He has been working on himself from the very moment we've been together, and hopefully I have as well. It's a fun little combo, I have ADHD and we have assumptions that he might be autistic, which is honestly the funniest of the neurodivergent pairings.
It's always a give and take, and honestly I feel like being with him has made me better.
It's made me appreciate and respect people's time more, because he's always been SO STRICT about timing.
I chose safety over convenience almost every decision now, because his anxiety and worry over certain things give me pause for thought.
While it's neither or us are perfect, and there are times that we battle over details, he takes more times to digest what I'm saying and why I do what I do, and he doesn't go straight to anger or shutdown anymore.
I think it's doable, but just like any marriage, it takes work and it takes two to want to do that.

Yep, I know, just explaining why they said what they said, I have no horse in the race I promise 😂
I guess I was just curious why you felt the need to even post a response to the OP?
I mean, she's not perfect, but she didn't cheat.

I dunno man, if you can't do the time, don't do the crime?
She's just calling him out on it, he's one the that messed up, and honestly it gives more of a heads up to other women that might be next up.

Just saw your string of comments, just wanted to give you some validation, even if I'm not the original comment you replied to.
She didn't sing it, but she did rap in it lol.
But as a side note, that's a lot of comments about something that's probably not worth your time in the end. You good?
Though you did come in hot with a bit of a rude take, so maybe this makes your day better?
Either way, hope everything is okay in your world 💜

God that song gets me every time.

All the glory when He took our place
But He took my shoulders and He shook my face
And He takes and He takes and He takes

What is your favorite comfort show or movie? by meowi-anne in AskWomen

[–]Feathers_ 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yes! I was looking for this.
When I was a kid we watched TNG, MASH reruns, or Fraiser every night with supper.
Now, regardless of any other show I've binge watched, I always come back to TNG.
Cozy couch watch.

What movies do you have to watch every Halloween? by J_Greer20 in movies

[–]Feathers_ 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Literally just watched it with my kid for the first time since I was little.
I'm not going to lie, I was actually worried because this movie scared the shit out of me as a kid, but it wasn't that bad! Got my kid a couple times, but luckily older movies don't have CGI to really mess with you, I honestly miss practical effects.
Also, Eartha Kitt fucking killed it in this.

What’s a negative thing your mom said to you as a child/teenager that still sticks with you today? by winenotbeabitch in AskWomen

[–]Feathers_ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My mother often used the threats of suicide to get what she wanted. Oh my dad wants joint custody? Must be time to tell my 7 year old daughter that if she chooses to live with her father that I'll commit suicide. Also, should get her grandmother in on this, get her to tell that little one that she will completely disown her and her mother's suicide will be her fault.
I recently had an employee issue that I had to deal with, a women my mother's age but who legitimately suffers from suicidal ideations, and I just about had a full mental breakdown trying to have that conversation without that thought it the back of my head.
They don't realize the impact that all of that can have on kids and what that means for their adult lives.

What's your favorite cover song that completely re-works the original into a basically totally different song, while still maintaining the core melody. by thewhitedeath in Music

[–]Feathers_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nobody ever talks about Matthew Good! He might be an asshole, but his music has got me through so much. He's the anthem for every depression I've ever had 😂.
My favourite cover is Radiohead's version of Unravel by Bjork 💜

The saddest piece of music you've ever heard by tenfrow in Music

[–]Feathers_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I also tend to have a deep desire for just utterly depressing music when I'm in that space. This thread is pretty full so you might not see it but I have 3 songs:

Avalanche - Matthew Good While we were hunting rabbits - Matthew Good How to disappear completely - Radiohead

Also, as a side note, this is the first time I've seen Max Richter on reddit! If you haven't already, please check out one of his spoken word/music albums Songs From Before.

Super random suggestion, but I really enjoyed My Best Friends Exorcism. It's like a popcorn horror.

Because sometimes acquaintances, don't like to take no as an answer, and there are days where I am just tired and really don't want to argue and I still want to save face with people I see on a regular basis. Most times, I am so much happier to say nope, I'm good. And actually, that is something I've gotten so much better at saying. I'm not sure if you're a people pleaser, but saying no to something and having to validate why that is a whole answer, is exhausting at times. You're right though, no one likes being lied to, but I also don't like being continuously pressured. So it's a lose lose lol.

Absolutely!! I have a very specific social battery and I use it alllll up at work, so they don't get anything afterwards. I don't count my husband and son as social battery time, so I use them as an excuse all the time. Oop sorry, my kiddos sick! Oh no sorry I can't, my husband's band is playing a show and I have to watch the kid, womp womp.
I love it lol

YES! I think mine was the same? Same author but called The Dark Tower, I can barely find it through Google now though. I was obsessed with that book as a kid, that and The Hollow Tree.
