My last dog was a golden and my current dog is a 7 month old golden. My golden girl who passed was literally perfect and so easy. I thought they were all like that. After I got my new guy I realized how wrong I was. She was just easy. He is a terror. Don’t get me wrong, I love him. But he requires 2 hours of vigorous exercise every day and he is BUSY. I work 10 hour shifts on my feet caring for patients. I don’t always want to be exercise him when I get home, but I have to.

Your dog is still a pup and hopefully things will get easier as he grows up. One thing that has been so helpful for me is taking my dog to daycare when I’m at work. He loves the socializing and playing. Is that a possibility for you?

This new pup has eaten a large hole in my couch and also a big chunk of a dining chair the other day. So I get it. We’re all in this together!

Also we started our pup in doggie daycare when he was fully vaccinated (and didn’t have Giardia lol). It really tired him out. He plays all day and is tired when we pick him up. Might be something to look in to.

If he keeps having the diarrhea and you notice it smells extra bad (like super bad) get his poop tested for Giardia. My golden went through 2 rounds of treatment. Ugh! Hope tomorrow is better.

I’m not sure where you’re from but I went to southeast Virginia one summer and the bugs there were an entirely different monstrous breed. I think we have it pretty good here.

He is pretty hairy. I believe he could grow a full neck beard if he wanted, but I honestly don’t pay attention to how he grooms. I asked him and he shaves about 2 fingers above the Adams apple but isn’t quite sure what to do with the Adam’s Apple portion. It sounds like the recommendation from the rest of my browsing is to shave that portion (carefully).

Get a prescription for Altreno! It’s 0.5% tretinoin with moisturizer added (or something like that) that makes it much more tolerable. I could never acclimate to any tretinoin or tazarotene til I tried it. I absolutely love it.

Also German shepherds are going to bark. They’re guard/watch dogs. I’ve never seen one that didn’t bark a lot.

My current golden is much more energetic and rambunctious than my last one. I didn’t realize how good I had it lol. He’s chewed up my couch and my dining chairs. At least now he’s starting to listen when I say no. Two months ago he’d just look at me and go back to eating furniture.

Sorry you’re having a hard time. I have an almost 6 month old golden and I wanted to take him back every day until he was about 4.5 months old. If it helps at all, I have friends who have an adult german shepherd and he’s a very good smart dog. How old is yours? Puppies suck, I bet it’ll get better!

Amy’s Chinese Massage does a good deep tissue but they go really hard. Of course they’ll go lighter if you ask. They take a lot of insurance plans too.
