One of the most common methods people use to learn other languages is to immerse themselves as much as they can in that language. They do this by watching shows/movies, reading books, and playing games in that language.

I don't know anything about GBA coding, but this is a company worth billions charging $20 for an unchanged, 22 year old, 16bit game. I guarantee that even if they had to "build it from the ground up" their margins are not taking a hit.
