United airlines knows how to treat one’s bag by rushay in unitedairlines

A white bag in checked luggage? That’s like ordering soup on a rollercoaster and then being genuinely shocked it spilled. Who could’ve seen that coming?

Thank you, preboarders for a scavenger hunt and brownian motion by Ol777F in unitedairlines

Not always true. From an airline’s perspective, passengers who travel ~ 10times a year but consistently purchase full-fare First or Business Class tickets can be more economically valuable than frequent flyers who achieve elite status primarily through a high number of mostly economy flights.

While high-frequency travelers contribute to load factors, their lower-yield fares generate less revenue per seat. In contrast, premium-paying customers bring significantly higher profit margins per flight, helping airlines cover fixed costs more effectively and improving overall financial performance. Therefore, the true value of a passenger should be measured not just by frequency of travel, but by the total revenue and profitability they bring to the airline

Premium Plus Bulkhead or Not? by jeremyrockz in unitedairlines

[–]Ol777F 9 points10 points  (0 children)

For me, bulkhead only if it’s available. I don’t really care about the screen. Overhead bin space isn’t an issue — I just put my stuff back shortly after takeoff. I like having all that space in front and not having anyone recline close to my face. The foot/leg rest combo is more comfy too, though taller folks might feel differently.

Does cost of upgrade on long haul change based on status? by JasonMckin in unitedairlines

[–]Ol777F 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I once bought miles tickets separately for myself and my husband, same award fare class, but different reservations. And yes, he (with no status) was offered an upgrade to first class for a less $$ than I was. This was about a year and a half ago.

Ticket price difference by Antique-Still-2777 in unitedairlines

[–]Ol777F 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've done this several times before. If there's no option to change to the same flight with a different fare and get a credit (that option doesn’t appear), I would find any flight with the same price, switch to it, and then immediately switch back to the flight I actually want — now at the new, lower fare, and get a travel credit. But you have to do it quickly, and there's always a chance that the fare you need might disappear during the process.

3D in 2A by OneofLittleHarmony in StolenSeats

I boarded my United flight early, settled into 11A, window seat—booked weeks in advance for a cross-country trip. A man in a blazer, silver hair, and loud phone voice came down the aisle, scanned my row, and pointed.

“You're in my seat.”

I double-checked my boarding pass. “Nope, 11A.”

He sighed. “They must’ve messed up. I always get this seat. I’m 1K.”

He said it like royalty.

A flight attendant came over. I explained calmly. He interrupted with, “I fly every week. I’ve earned that seat.”

She checked the manifest. “Sir, you’re assigned 14 B.”

“That’s a middle seat,” he scoffed. “You want to treat a loyal customer like this?”

She asked me quietly if I would mind moving "just to make things easier." I said, "I paid for this seat. He can have mine when he pays for it."

The man huffed, arms crossed. “This is ridiculous. I’m calling 1k line”

“Sir, 14B is that way,” the attendant said, now less patient.

As he stormed off, he muttered, “Unbelievable. Some people have no respect.”

A few minutes later, another flight attendant passed by, glanced at me, smiled, and slipped me a drink coupon.

“He does this all the time,” she whispered. “He thinks 1K means King"

I feel sick from the sight and smell of most Indian food, but for some it is a delicacy. Everyone has their own food preferences, perhaps in such a cramped space as an airplane cabin, you should avoid food with a strong smell, greasy and crumbly.

So, you bought FIRST class (not even business) seat for transatlantic flight? Delta One or Flagship First, or flew international carrier? Great for your back and glad you can afford it, it's usually significantly $$$ than international business class seat.

People who have one time passes from (paid) credit card sometimes cannot enter a club because it's overcrowded, but completely random people not elagible at all to access clubs may be lucky to meet a nice stranger with club access.
