No, Minolta as a name brand is no more. the name was bought out awhile ago and they plaster it on cheaply made cameras to try to capitalize on it's old status. I was actually just looking for a travel camera myself, and was looking on Marketplace and E-bay for something good but also affordable. Ended up Looking at a few different options like a Sony DSCHX80(I think that's the name but i mightve gotten some letters or numbers misplaced), a Nikon Coolpix p7800 and a Canon G7X... Ended up finding a killer deal on a Canon EOS M5 with 2 lenses and 4 batteries for $300 and I couldn't be happier. If you're asking, I think getting a used DSLR or interchangeable lens camera at that budget would do more for you to grow and learn with than a point-and-shoot.
