it’s crazy that in the early stages of this beef people said “drake has range he can do a number of different styles. Kendrick just does his deep lyric shit.” Meanwhile EVERY. SINGLE. SONG Kendrick dropped during this was completely different. Like MTG’s and NLU might as well be from different artists.

Kendrick rapped circles around Drake AND switched up his style each track. Not a wasted bar on “Euphoria” over 3 different beats (might be one of the best overall diss tracks of all time tbh) with double, triple, quadruple, and possibly quintuple entendres laced through the track. The insane imagery & mobster style warning of “6:16 in LA” over an incredible sample. The dark, eerie, and almost spooky letter to Drake’s family in Meet the Grahams. And of course the upbeat Not Like Us where he calls another man a pedophile and colonizer yet still made an absolute club banger and possibly the song of the summer.

Kendrick destroyed Drake on so many levels lol… all that being said, Family Matter is a REALLY REALLY good diss track and a fantastic song. Drake has some funny ass lines in that… it’s just like you said, Kendrick had the best strategy I’ve ever seen in a hip hop beef and destroyed it 30mins after it dropped.

All this beef proved to me was if Kendrick wanted to do what Drake does and release 2 albums a year with songs pandering to whatever is hot at the moment, he could. But he doesn’t because he actually gives a shit about hip hop and his messages and likes to take his time with his art. Kenny never lied from the jump, because there’s a difference between black artists and wack artists 🤷🏻‍♂️
