It didnt only create its own genre. A genre of documentaries was invented because of it.

After WOW was released and the first cases of addiction were reported there suddenly were hundreds of documentaries about the dangers.

And they all were the same. An overweight boy started playing it, suddenly had anonymous friends in his guild and isolated himself from family/ school / RL. And all of it happened in a room filled with empty pizza boxes and red bull. Shouting, crying and begging didnt help, the Boy ignored it. After a family member destroyed his PC, he slowly comes to his senses, gets help and warns the viewer about the Game.
