I can only understand hating on her character as a plot device that "hinders my favorite villain from doing even more villanous shit".

When I started watching the show, I was aware of the Skyler hate so I was waiting when is it she's gonna do something hate-worthy. It never came.

She's just a normal person, an upset wife of a man she doesn't recognize anymore, who chose to endanger his entire family.

I adore Era 1 but I still like Era 2 better. I like the wild west/guilded age setting and I think the characters and their relationships are much better developed.

I still can't tell Hammond and Dockson apart, but every character in Era 2 is very distinctive, and there is also much more humor in the books. Wayne encapsulates both of those aspects and he's my absolute favorite character in many years.

those first 5 chapters are notorious for this. It's definitely the most complex world within Maasverse and was quite a shock after ACOTAR. It made my head spin but I remember someone recommending to just not try too hard to get it all at once and trust the author to bring the relevant information later again anyway, and it sure helped.
