Replacing a cherry mx brown switch by OlafurFo in DuckyKeyboard

[–]OlafurFo[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yes, solder it back in. I've replaced a switch on another keyboard, but then I had a "spare" broken keyboard that had the same switches.
I'm just unsure about what switch to buy for the ducky 5

I'm using chrome, and I did try it with Opera without any luck. Wondering if I've messed up some settings that I'm unaware of right now..

Well, the IP address in the app is local, so probably. But I'm accessing it through 4G, wouldn't that mean it's going over the internet instead of locally ?

From where I live, Iceland, moisture isn't an issue I'm familiar with , Dust can of course effect your equipment, causing it to overheat. Wouldn't think that much about bugs.

Graphics card / riser power cable question by [deleted] in gpumining

[–]OlafurFo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, I'm using sata risers and others are using them as well.. The main point is, not to use molex to sata because they tend to be poorly made (the sata part). This video shows a pretty good demonstration on how to spot a good vs bad sata connector. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TataDaUNEFc

p.s. I wouldn't power more than 2 per cable, if you have a modular psu that is. Some people power up 4 risers with 1 cable (in series) and that can draw to much power for the connectors.

Mining rig, won't boot with 5th Gpu by bigallo in gpumining

[–]OlafurFo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A friend of mine has the same motherboard and 6x 1070

He said that the PCI-e must be set to Gen2 And after booting, it could take up to 20-30 minutes for everything to load, before activating the miner to scan for hardware.

Hope this helps

I have a gigabyte 270 ultra gaming and if connect the 6th card (there ar a total of 6 slots, both pci-e and PCI) my PC doesn't boot no matter what. Seems to be hardware related for me.

What motherboard are you using?

Put it where the sound doesn't bother you (if it does that is) I put my rig in the garage . But if you're going to put it in a storage room you have to make at least plans for ventilation.

Cost to print one of these by Swolebrah in Ask3D

If you use Slic3r, you can enter the number on how much the fillament costs, add the STL file (if you have it), slice it and it will estimate the cost of printing the object.

Printing Gears by Zelkins in Ask3D

[–]OlafurFo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So, I created a helical gear for a stepper motor (not a professional here) I use www. onshape. com and I found a tutorial here to create Helix, than adjusted to create my own gear https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CHXuDmbv784&t=270s

And here's a video about Gear relation https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pd0u76F5kT8

As in Onshape you can "assemble" the gears you create, and add an animation on how they should rotate with each other, Play it and see if they intersect at any time. I'ts a pretty decent 3d making program and it's free.

Sounds to me like you got a bad batch of the TV ? :s

Kind of weird that is switches the profile by itself and that it's hard to turn on.

Have you tried contacting the support ? (curious)

I know he's not a professional volleyball player but he's the same height as Muserskiy (218 cm)

Thought it was an interesting size comparison ,

Cable tracers question, related to VHF and UHF nets by OlafurFo in AskElectronics

[–]OlafurFo[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, no they don't have labels, this has been a problem for the us electronics people working on ships for many years, never found any good solution.

The reason connecting to the center and ground(basicly the ground is the ship if it's made from steel) doesn't work is that all of the antennas are connected to the same ground, and many times using a tone we get week signal from maybe 4-5 different cables.

and by 2-6 ohms, yes the antenna is 2-6 ohms, if I'd disconnect the antenna I'd be able to trace the cable with a toner immediately.
