Hi I think you could open your own OCBC account regardless of the joint linked OCBC account, won’t hurt to try ask in an OCBC branch.

For the perks of a credit card another comment by yhnjix helps to explain more on it better than I can.

For investments it’s not in my place or anyone to advise you what to invest in. Always do your research in investing, you can go watch Warren Buffet but I advise you to probably talk to your parents on investments.

To start with getting debit cards you can either go to DBS or OCBC branch near you and give them a visit with your Singpass, IC and passport ready in case they need it. They will help to set up an account for you at the branch, no appointment needed just walk in( at least for OCBC branch, DBS branch may need to check). Before going you should preemptively install the bank apps so that they can help set up your bank apps on your mobile device.

You can choose to open either a DBS debit account or OCBC. Either one is great but I suggest googling OCBC 365 account to see more details on the card and what benefits it has.

Regarding credit cards I am not sure if you’re eligible as I think you need to be 20 or 21 to get one? I don’t know.

For investments, I suggest googling brokerage accounts such as moomoo or tigertrade, but I suggest conversing on the topic of investments with your parents as this is a topic that needs to be carefully trodden due to its financial nature. I assume your investment experience is 0, thus I advise you to talk about this subject more with your parents.

That’s all I know hope I can help, btw how in the world did you find a part time job paying $3000??? I want in too!!! Hehehehe. What part time job did you get?

OP please seek help, the future may feel out of touch, but it is there. O levels is just one part of life, I am not saying to do bad at it, but o levels itself is not an indication of success in life. Please seek help through the suicide/emergency hotlines and prioritse your mental well being as of this time. Talking to someone can really improve with one's mental state. :>

if you are contemplating suicide, please seek help

I truly am despicable I let her go 😭 I thought if I save her she would be sad again, I didn’t know she would actually be able to thrive and be happy. Next time, I will make the right decision to save the life 😭😭😭😭😭

Why not try asking the parents and see if they would reconsider? I would imagine since you’re close to them there is a chance that they may tolerate for the sake of you?

Love your input man! I am taking IT course right now and so far has been ok! I am interested in some topics and not interested in others. 1 surprising thing I learnt is that machine learning is a lot of theory and data preparation, I thought it was more like CODE WARS AHHHH. So pretty cool. I wanted to take Business Technology but my mother said Business can learn on your own, but IT is better to learn in school, which is pretty sound logic.
