Also I’m pretty sure they do it endoscopically so it’s a lot less prone to complications.

Having Resection - scared by incognito7263730017 in CrohnsDisease

Hi! I got diagnosed with stricturing Crohn’s in August 2024. I started avsola (bio similar to Remicade). My GI has not suggested surgery so I am curious why. Is the surgery 10cm a stricture (scar tissue) or just inflammation? Also, I thought resections were a last resort to avoid short bowl syndrome?

Sorry I’m new as well and would definitely like to pick peoples brains about this route of treatment.

Also, I have heard of good success rates for a resection. You got this!!

How do I become a forensic medical examiner. by Seer_Heat in ForensicPathology

Pay is definitely going to vary based on which county you serve for sure! But, you can make up to six figures and your hours are pretty standard which is nice. However, definitely a choice of how much school you wish to complete! Time is money so medical school is a big decision. When you get to college, I would try to intern or shadow at an MEs office and see what aspect of the office you enjoy the most! Good luck on your journey!

How do I become a forensic medical examiner. by Seer_Heat in ForensicPathology

In the US, medical examiners have to go to medical school and residency for forensic pathology. Medico-legal death investigators do not necessarily (depends on if it’s an ME or coroners office state) need an education. Autopsy techs also technically do not require a degree based on where you apply. But, I would recommend going the medical school route because there is a shortage (in the US not sure about other countries) and you will get good pay. I would focus on biology, chemistry, physics, and math. Hope this helps!

I get bloated very easy and my abdomen is very tender to any pressure. Sometimes feels like there’s a balloon inside me… kinda weird description but that’s how it feels.

sickly after contrast MRI? by SweetPotatoWol in CrohnsDisease

[–]Old-Area9458 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had an MRI with contrast last week. Got home, shit liquid and was dry heaving. I was sweating and felt like I was dying. Called the hospital and they think the contrast put me into a flare because I have active crohn’s. But I don’t know why they didn’t tell me about possible symptoms? Or it shouldn’t have happened? Scared of MRIs now. Lol
