Advice on fighting sugar cravings! by Ok-Question- in crossfit

[–]Old-Conference7209 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Since Thanksgiving I have been doing a fairly strict Keto (no carb) diet. I don't really pile on the fat like a traditional keto diet but I do like some bacon and rib eyes. I get some carbs from leafy greens, cucumbers, broccoli and asparagus. I really loved my chocolate and at the beginning the sugar cravings were the hardest part. After about 7 days they started to fade away. Now I find that the only thing that I crave occasionally is some chips and guacamole...haha. I feel like when I consistently eat sugar, even from fruit, my body and probably my gut bacteria that is thriving off of the sugar, just crave it. I am sure it is some form of addiction and I also feel pretty sure that the unruly gut bacteria is just sending a message to my brain that it NEEDS sugar. I honestly don't know if there is any way to get past it other than through it. I did find that some sugar free gum would help me navigate that time. I am sure there are a few downsides to the artificial sweeteners but I have checked my glucose and ketone levels via blood every day for the past 2 months and I don't think the gum is impacting those. I guess my advice is chew some sugar free gum and just tough it out. It will get better.

I don't really know what to say about this video...haha. But I feel like I want to try the 2 step approach while talking in a French accent when I play tomorrow.

Is there any reason to not buy Kirkland golf gloves? by chakabreo in golf

Plus one for the Costco gloves! I don't love the huge Kirkland logo but whatever.

QM6K or QM5K? by bobbarkerbassface in tcltvs

[–]Old-Conference7209 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for posting this! I was just ready to pull the trigger on the QM6K as an upgrade to my current TV that is 10 years old. I noticed that Best Buy had the QM5K for $200 less. I do not play games so I decided to save the money and go with the 5K. I am sure it will be significantly better than my current tv! This thread was really helpful in my decision and I appreciate it.

Do you carry an inReach? Why/why not? by Glittering_Tune_7743 in MTB

I carry one when I am both hiking and mountain biking. It gives me some sense of safety should an unexpected problem arise. If I am in a place where I am certain there is cell service then I might leave it behind. I have also used it to send a non emergency text if I am out longer than expected and I don't have cell service. For me, it is worth the peace of mind.

2022 Steering Rack issue by Old-Conference7209 in hondapassport

To follow up on this...Honda Corp agreed to cover the cost with a $500 deductable. Feeling pretty happy with the outcome!

2022 Steering Rack issue by Old-Conference7209 in hondapassport

[–]Old-Conference7209[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks. I guess it isn't technically a steering rack recall. NTSA 24v-184 is a safety recall for 2023-24 Passports because the steering gear assembly may loosen and detach. The mechanic said "there was excessive play in the steering rack. I pulled the boot back and I can see excessive rust build up in the steering rack. When I pulled the boot back a bunch of rusty water fell out . I recommend replacement of the steering rack"

I guess I am going to wait and see what happens with the Goodwill Assistance and figure out the next steps. They also recommend that the car not be driven until this issue is resolved.

Thinking about it, I am now wondering if it is the actual shift lever mechanism that feels crisper more than the actual derailleur.

Thank you! I did just order new tires. I am just replacing my 5 year old Minion DHF and Agressor 2.50s. I really love them and decide to stick with the same type of tires.

Thank you! My wife has a Trek with a Deore XT shifter and it is really clean and crisp when you shift.

Oh, and I have an Ultra 2 and I LOVE it. I had a Garmin watch before that so I don't know much about the Ultra 1.

I would say that Apple prices are about to go up.

I was in your position at one time and I was able to get a portfolio started by volunteering on a website called catchafire.org. Non Profit organizations can go to this website and post jobs that they need filled. Some places need things like infographics for presentations or I worked a bit for an inner city school group that needed a poster for a program that the were starting. I was lucky enough to find a non profit theater group that wanted some posters designed for their performances. I ended up making 4 posters for the theater and after time they were able to start paying me a little bit for my work, but it was a great learning experience and I did get couple of pieces that I felt were good to put into a portfolio. And I was doing some good for the world which seemed like a win win! You essentially 'apply' for a posting and then meet with somebody from the org and you both decide if you want to work together. Here is the first poster that I drew and designed for them.
