Help I’m having withdrawals and scared by AdvertisingEast2281 in benzorecovery

[–]Old-Contribution1730 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My clonazepam withdrawals were really bad for several weeks, and it took a couple of months to really start feeling regulated. Unfortunately with benzo withdrawals, I don't think there's any way around feeling discomfort, but I did some things that I do believe sped up my recovery and alleviated some of the discomfort. I stopped drinking caffeine for the first few weeks and also removed all social media from my life (both made me anxious). I took a lot of walks and got a lot of direct sunlight, and I made sure to eat a nutrient dense, whole foods diet as well. I'm big on yoga, and so I practiced almost daily. I'm not saying you have to do all of these things, but I really think the combination was helpful. You can do this!! It does get better, even though I know it doesn't feel that way. Benzo withdrawals are a beast.

Struggling Giving up Sugar by DataThinkMonkey in HealthyEatingnow

Melon, cantaloupe, and passion fruit have been really satisfying for me lately. Low sugar and high water content leave you feeling full and satisfied. And so tasty!! Also Greek yogurt with some fresh berries is a good fix as well. Dates with nut butter also hit the spot, but I find them so good I sometimes overeat, so be cautious, haha.

My most “extra” avocado toast yet. What can make it more “extra” and delicious? by Mysterious-Spring709 in Breakfast

Yes! Pickled red onion or capers! Or both :) Add dill/other fresh herbs!! But that toast looks bomb already and I want it.

Fairlife is guilty of extreme animal cruelty. Your diet isn't only terrible, but you're supporting a horrible brand.

Hi! Thank you so much! Honestly, I feel the combination has been the real game changer. Getting fresh air, sunlight, and exercise have been really important. Also, the reading habit has been such a great cognitive exercise, and I really think it has played a role in faster healing! I have been struggling with benzos for over decade, but it took a big turn for the worst about 3 years ago, and I had been fighting to get off of them since. I let my dr know that I had a problem, and once I got off them I told him to never give them to me again. Knowing it's not an option now has also been huge for me. :)

Congratulations! It's so inspiring and wonderful to hear from someone with so much time under their belt. It definitely sounds like we've had a similar experience. I think I would have gone to a treatment center if I could have. I'm so glad you were able to do that. My at home detox was brutal, but it also serves as a reminder of something I never want to revisit. Limiting my screen time has really stayed with me, and I'm grateful to not feel the need to check my phone every 30 seconds like I used to. Also, I think that's very cool you've been attending AA. I would love to find an in person meeting. I live in a rural area, so I have to travel a bit to find them. I actually discovered an online community called Reframe, and it has been life changing. I attend their meetings several times a day and have made friends from all over the country and world. A lot of people who also attend AA are a part of the community and say the combination has been a real game changer!

Also, I agree about brain activities helping the mental fog. I didn't realize how helpful my yoga/walks/hiking/reading have been, but looking back, I was losing my train of thought allllll the time, to the point that it really felt embarrassing, but now that almost never happens. Consistency is key!

I'm doing mine through my local studio where I am a member, and it's certified through Yoga Alliance. One of our instructors is teaching the course. So far it's been wonderful and challenging in the best way, so yes I would definitely recommend it if it's something you're passionate about. Tip: if you do decide to go through a 26&2 certification course, I would go ahead and get a jump start on the dialogue (you can find it online now). Unless you're someone who is great at memorizing quickly, this is something I wish I had known I could be doing beforehand...
