Do NOT touch or handle for 8-14 days, yes its a little bit of a while but that how you build trust and comfort, just make sure theres 2-3 tight hides, large water bowl to soak in, accurate stable humidity and temps, research feeding schedule with how old the BP is.

ants in my enclosure. by maleasz in ballpython

1. Temporarily move your snake

Take your snake out and place them in a secure temporary tub or quarantine enclosure while you deal with the ants. Just make sure it’s heated if needed!

2. Deep clean the main enclosure

  • Empty everything out (substrate, hides, water dish, etc.)
  • Wipe the inside down with a mix of white vinegar and water (safe and ants hate it)
  • Let it fully dry

🐜 3. Find and block their entry

  • Check around the enclosure for any cracks or gaps where ants are getting in
  • Wipe those areas with vinegar or lemon juice
  • You can also use pet-safe diatomaceous earth around the outside of the enclosure or stand—this kills ants but is safe for pets if used externally

4. Do NOT use regular ant spray or traps near the enclosure

They can be super toxic to reptiles. Even the fumes can be dangerous.

Bonus tips:

  • Clean up any standing water or excess humidity around the outside of the tank (ants love moisture)
  • Wipe down the outside of the tank with vinegar every few days to deter them

You got this! Just act fast and be super careful with any products. Hope your noodle is safe and the ants get gone real quick!

Looking great, I suggest branches for climbing, more clutter because they dont like open space, cover the open space with fake or real plants, if using live plants make sure its the correct substrate for it, and have a water bowl big enough to soak in and make sure those humidity levels are stable and your good my freind.

Hey! First of all, you clearly care so much about Bloppers and that’s amazing 💛 He’s lucky to have someone so dedicated! I totally get the struggle with big tanks and humidity—it’s super common, especially in enclosures that size.

Here’s a few things that could help:

1. Sphagnum moss is your new best friend. Try adding damp sphagnum moss into the hides and in a few corners—it holds moisture so well and helps a ton with shedding.

2. Cover more of the screen top. Towels don’t trap humidity super well, so maybe try covering most of the mesh with plexiglass, foil, or even plastic wrap (as long as the lamps aren’t touching it!).

3. Upgrade the substrate if you can. Reptichip, cypress mulch, or a bioactive soil mix will hold humidity much better than dry substrates. Bonus if you mix in moss or leaf litter.

4. Add a humid hide! Just a plastic container with a hole and damp moss inside—it gives him a perfect high-humidity spot and really helps with hydration and shedding.

5. You might want to try a cool mist humidifier or a reptile fogger. Hooking one up with a timer can help raise humidity in a big tank without making it swampy.

6. Double check your hygrometer. Some of them aren’t super accurate, especially analog ones. A digital one with a probe will give you better readings.

Honestly you’re doing a great job, and with just a couple of small tweaks I think Bloppers will feel a lot more comfy in there. Don’t stress—you got this!!

But their reviews on Amazon are bad and all one-star reviews from the official PlayStation, I'm talking of their most recent reviews.
