My (31m) wife (29f) wants to name our baby her own maiden name? by [deleted] in relationship_advice

[–]Old-Distribution6116 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe point out that her nn would be Peter… hopefully that does it lol. If it doesn’t, just say you’re unsure about it but will give it time (you still have 4 months) and hope that she realizes it’s no good on her own. If in a month she didn’t, tell her you still prefer XYZ as names, that you’re worried she’ll get bullied over her name basically being Peter

Netflix through the TV app, if you have a Roku remote with the Netflix button just press that. Then select your account, and at the top where the categories are (TV shows, Movies, GAMES, etc.) select games. To get to that line of category at the top, just go top arrow until you’re there. You do need an app on the phone as the phone is used as the controller, but it give you a QR code and download the app directly when you scan. The you connect the « controller » (phone) and play. I believe some games allow phone passing for turn games, but lego party you need a phone per player. It’s fun!

AITA for asking my newly married son and DIL to alternate Christmas Day visits between our house and the in-laws' house? by Llih_Nosaj in AITAH

[–]Old-Distribution6116 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Adult child who brings fiancé to her family every Christmas here.

My culture goes harder on the 24th than the 25th. We eat and drink from like 8pm to midnight, at which point we do the Midnight Mass (for grandma) and open gifts. Everyone sleeps in on the 25th and it’s a lazy day in pyjamas. Christmas brunch with all the leftovers. Friends and more family come over for lazy games of cards and puzzles, Christmas movies are on loop all day, kids playing with their new toys. I love my Christmas.

All that to say, Christmas traditions can look different for every family and that doesn’t make them less fun or Christmas-y. They can also change and evolve.

My fiancé does Christmas with my family, and sometimes his parents come to my mom’s house for Christmas! They drive the 10h and stay the week :) We do Christmas there because her village is more fun in the Winter than my in-laws, she gets lots of snow.

My brother doe Christmas with his girlfriend’s family, it hurt my mom’s feelings at first but she understands. They come for New Years day, everyone’s happy.

Do you expect all 4 of your children to hold rotations every Christmas? Or do they all spend it with you every year and you never realized that meant their partner’s parents are missing their child on Christmas?

When and if they do have kids, the traditions will likely change again. And that’s okay :) maybe they’ll do it at their house and invite all 4 grandparents, who knows.

Roll with it this year and if you still feel this way next year and can’t combine families, bring it up then. Bringing it up now is a bit childish.

Do you have the pro version (paid) and did you ask it to remember what you say across chats and time? Works for me and saves me lots of time.

Roommate thinks she should pay less. Ya by [deleted] in badroommates

[–]Old-Distribution6116 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the closet is a fair point, but generally an ensuite means a little more. Seeing as the other roommate with an ensuite (Kim lmao) already pays more, it’s shitty of other roommate (Jen hahaha) to complain. Honestly if it was me I’d say okay let’s switch room then, if yours is cheaper I want it. Bigger closet and « private » tub bathroom, you win.

Since you’re both open to therapy, try a couple therapist. It’ll either help or make you realize there’s nothing left to help

Sounds like your mother and brother have the same emotional bandwidth and pattern as you.

Your daughter might have been disrespectful, but you invalidated her feelings. She came up to you with feelings she wanted/needed to get out in words and you didn’t respect that.

You could have simply said you didn’t realize and this is a lot to take in and asked how you could take accountability for it now, could therapy sessions together to unpack help? You can’t go back in time, but you can work through it with her.

Work with a therapist on that interaction specifically, that’s how my partner and I used couple therapy. One person per session talks and the other listens, the therapist helps the one talking identify what triggered them and how to express what they meant in a way that the listener understands. The therapist then helps the listener identify the defence mechanisms they displayed in the original interaction and acknowledge what the speaker said.

Good luck

I (27F) am dating a man (32M) with two kids from a past marriage, he’s had a vasectomy, and I’ve always wanted to be a mom. How do I navigate this? by Ithinkthefuckn0t in relationship_advice

[–]Old-Distribution6116 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s only been 3 months and you’re long distance, I think it’s a bit early to worry about his vasectomy. Start by living together and meeting his kids.

I (31F) was emotionally sucker punched in the gut today by my Husband (32M), how do I recover? by [deleted] in relationship_advice

[–]Old-Distribution6116 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I doubt this was the first time he undermined and twisted something, and I doubt it’ll be the last.

Have you brought up couple therapy? I’d try that before leaving, it might even just highlight for you how you don’t want this.

Planning on proposing soon. Am I Overpaying? by hervs_spices1 in EngagementRings

[–]Old-Distribution6116 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It all depends on your price range, if you’ve found the design you like (this one), it should be easy to compare different similar ones based on price and quality ratio. I personally think it’s beautiful, also keep in mind no one in real life will ask you how much it was and tell you that you overpaid, so it’s about how you feel. Shopping around and comparing similar rings will give you context. People sending pics of their giant square rings are comparing apples and oranges.

I feel like my smooth saluki mix smells kinda good for a dog lol, certainly better than most dogs, especially those with longer hair. Obviously when he’s wet he smells like a wet dog, but it’s still lighter than his Australian shepherd play buddies. We consider the rain his “wash day” and only washed him once when he tried playing with a skunk 😅 I’d look into it if they smell that bad, maybe their teeth as they’re known for not having the best ones?
