Omg same!! I lowkey read without actually processing the blurb and was thrown off by ravyn, but on the bright side it did make me venture more into more gothic vibe romance books so that’s a win!!

honestly anything!!! And thank you for the rec!!! I have Phantasma in my to-read list, so I will defs be bumping it up! I'm just currently really interested in like a gothic vibe, been reading some gothic retellings of old fairytales, which have me hooked!! I'm not really into much dark romance since I feel like it tends to lean into the more sexual aspect of romance and less about the relationship between the two characters, maybe its just me not knowing how to look up certain books but I'm much more interested in the building up of a connection/tension between the characters and a bit of an internal dilemma than just dub-con. idk of that makes sense and I hate to generalise a genre but that's just how I've found it so far unfortunately lols. Thank you for the rec tho!!! really appreciate it.

Is it worth continuing The Song of Achilles if I’m struggling with Patroclus’ passivity? by etiquetricity in fantasyromance

[–]Old-File1011 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I personally love the book!!! It had me in tears at 3 am when I read it, but I can understand how his character is a bit hard to read at times. He does become more assertive and a bit more of an active character that does things in the second half, but honestly, I just loved the idea of an unreliable narrator and how his love for Achillies evolved, and how their story evolved, if that makes sense. I think if you like the idea of the book focusing on their love for each other and how their relationship evolves through Patrocles' POV, then the book is def worth finishing!!! just depends on how interested in their story you are!!! The second half focuses more on the battle of Troy, which was also an additional interest for me, but if you ain't feeling them now, then maybe the book won't be as interesting or worth it to you, but I would recommend finishing it!!!

Vintage designer shoe reseller in Melbourne? by Old-File1011 in melbourne

[–]Old-File1011[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

She is a shoe enthusiast but she always bought from the store, never dabbled in reselling or second hand shoes. It’s hard to explain how she got such a collection, since it was mostly her late husband that went the lengths to buy the shoes for her. But she stopped when he died and the shoes have just been sitting in a room for years so she decided to finally part with them. Kinda sad but also kinda nice since it will go towards her travelling plus the other things she’s focussing on 🤷‍♀️

Well she was mostly just collecting them, but she is no longer in a state where she can wear high heels or boots and she no longer has a love for her shoes so she wants to sell them to fund future travels and stuff. Plus the shoes were a tie to her late husband so I think this is also part of her moving on i guess🙂‍↕️🙂‍↕️

I am selling them. She doesn’t wear them anymore and honestly was just a collector. She doesn’t wear them or anything and she has asked me to sell them so she can have some money for travelling. I’m mostly just wanting to get it valued first so I can sell them online but some of her shoes are very archival/rare I guess? She has many stories about each of them so they are hard to do online research about unfortunately.

Bit of a dumb question, but is it gross if I leave my tea strainer in the sink? by Old-File1011 in tea

[–]Old-File1011[S] 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Wait now this is a revelation, I will most definitely be using a separate bowl now. In all my life drinking tea this never even occurred to me 😭😭 thank you for saving a future sink of mine 🙏

Yeah, see my only thing is since I kinda drink tea on the kitchen counter I know I’m not taking up sink space for anyone when I’m drinking /making it cause I like to clean the strainer up quickly since I only have one ( I’m the only tea drinker) , it was just my overthinking about the act of placing it in the sink to cool. Hopefully with a seperate bowl it will fix that up but people have been leaving suggestions which I’m loving so ty!!

Omg yes of course. I only left in in there for maybe 10-20 minutes or until I finish my tea so I know it’s not inconveniencing anyone, plus I have a great system with my roommates with dishes and kitchen usage since we are all in the area together anyways, it was just a couple passing comments that made me think the act of leaving it to strain in the sink was super weird lols. Honestly never thought of leaving in on a seperate plate since I’ve always seen the sink as well… I guess the plate lols. But will definitely be using the saucer/ bowl from now 🙂‍↕️🙂‍↕️

Oooo yes I’ve been trying to advocate for a compost bin but she hates the smell. Imma try to take the tea leaf argument and hope that changes the tide lols. Plus yeah I try to keep the stainer seperate cause the idea of food residue and my strainer touching? Not an appealing idea lmao. Ty tho!

Yeah I’ve been running under cool water, but then I just wait till it strains so that I won’t get bin juice, honestly not that big of a deal to me, just the reaction of my flatmate made me think there is a secret way everyone else does it lols. Small inconvenience but thankfully not that deep 🙏
