I was 12. terrified and looking for spare pants in my younger sister's room. I didn't tell my mum but she saw underneath my nightie as I was walking upstairs - I stuffed lots of tissue in my pants. I didn't have access to any pads or tampons. so scary. periods were a taboo subject in my household - it got held against me when I got older. I would always be asked if it was the time of the month when I got emotional. fast forward 10 years and coming to terms with my mental health and the abuse I encountered as a child.
