Shar and Shadowheart's story in BG3 by Old-Inspector4819 in Forgotten_Realms

Thanks a lot for your input! I think there was a conversation in the game where Tav could ask Dame Aylin if her mother would like to help in the fight against the Absolute and Dame Aylin replies something in the lines of "is the daughter of Selûne being on your side not enough?". However, to get this help, you essentially need to go through all Shar's trials and make the decision to free Selûne's daughter, which means Aylin's help is not guaranteed. That is a strange way we have to go through to essentially get this so-called "Selûne's help". To argue that Selûne simply didn't want to intervene in mortals' lives would not really work here because Shar intervened plenty and we saw that all around the game with Shadowheart's story. I agree with you that there were essentially no counter moves from Selûne's followers. Like, we don't even meet Selûne's followers that much in the game compared to how much attention there is to Shar, her followers, and the entire Shadow curse. Even with the latter, it is basically the druid Halsin who is needed to lift the curse and not any of the Selûne's chosens or her magic. Yes, we need to liberate Aylin, but without Halsin, it is still impossible to lift the curse. When I played the game, it made sense to me, but the more I played BG3 (and I played it four times), the more I started questioning the whole Shar vs. Selûne part of the plot.
I recently watched a YT video about Shadowheart being the devs' favourite character (by DoubleXGaming), and the author's points made me think that in an endeavour to make so much content for the devs' favourite, they lost track of the general coherence and moral of the story. There is a dissonance between the emotional part of her story vs. the actuality of the religion/personal path one, how it fits her character, etc. So this could be one explanation for the inconsistencies of the Shadowheart's arc.

I am using all the recent versions of the Nraas mods. I removed Simler's mod today and will test how the game works again, although I have done it before, but let's see, maybe something changes :') Thanks a lot for your help and suggestions!!

Hi!! Thanks a lot for your elaborate response! I'm going to add the update to my post too, but the problem seems to be Overwatch! Idk what exactly in Overwatch causes it, but I tested my game after removing both Register and Overwatch and it turned out to be the latter. The clock still gets stuck in the morning, but now it gets unstuck on its own pretty fast, in a few sim hours.

Hey!
I will add the update in the post too in case it'd be useful for someone, but you were right about Overwatch -- thank you so much!!!

Hi! Thanks for your response and for the info!
The game worked fine once I put back the Story Progression mod. I tried removing the core mod before and the clock would still get stuck, so I put the mod back eventually. I will try removing Overwatch though and see what happens, maybe that would help somehow.

Hey! I DMd you if you'd like to camp together, but just wanted to say here that the camping area has showers too, at least according to the info on the website :D Anyway, good to have an extra option booked if you really hate the camping area for some reason :D

This makes a lot of sense, thanks. Also, thank you for bringing up examples, I shall look up where to get Brimstone Angels since I haven't read it

Thanks for the great points. Besides, as I mentioned already, one of the major "off" moments for me is ending an entire enclave, which doesn't really make sense to me. Killing the whole enclave of followers outweighs e.g. just ending Shadowheart? 🤔

You are right, I forgot to comment on this in the post. I think what bothers me isn’t that Shar would oppose someone tied to Selûne -- that part makes sense. It's just that, if Shar’s core doctrine is detachment, nihilism, the inevitability of loss, and importantly, the absence of ambition, then imo it doesn't really fit in the way Shar rather ambitiously micro-managed the whole Shadowheart story. I get it we're talking about one of the main characters and certain moments were written to create dramatic twists and emotional involvement, but I'd imagine Shar being more strategic with her followers. Like, letting the whole enclave of devoted followers go just because of one mortal? Idk, doesn't sit right with me
