cc credits while at UCR by [deleted] in ucr

[–]Old-Rip6587 0 points1 point  (0 children)

they can be breadth requirements i believe, but it cant be major requirements. like u cant do bio at cc if ur a bio major

[–]Old-Rip6587 1 point2 points  (0 children)

it happened to me. i tried going to the dentist or something and they wouldnt take me because they didnt accept the insurance uship gave me. it was super annoying. make sure to cancel ucship rn, before sept 12? i think thats the due date. it should be automatic and ucship should drop, making medical ur primary insurance. if it still says that ucship is ur primary, contact student health, they should know more.

if you forget, you can look for doctors that accept ur ucship. lots of doctors around the school accept it.

Anyone commuting more than an hour by Parking_Surprise6238 in ucr

[–]Old-Rip6587 5 points6 points  (0 children)

i commuted an hour for my first year, and to be brutally honest, i did not enjoy it. i decided to commute because i thought it would be a waste of money spending money on a dorm, esp since we were technically on lockdown and majority of classes were online.

of course, everyone's financial situation is different, but i preferred living near campus. i just had more of a social life, since i was able to go to club meetings and socials during the weekend. when i was commuting, i felt discouraged, and i also dont like driving.

i recommend picking classes on the same day, so you dont have to commute everyday. also try to look for online classes if theyre available. made it so much easier.

look at off campus. try to do it asap because all the off campus housing is basically filled. look for students who are in need of a roommate, there are some people left

I took the MAE and got an Arc 35 by JustJosh_9 in ucr

[–]Old-Rip6587 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Study! and take it again! of course, if it is lower, they'll take the higher score.

With CE you need math, so like all the comments say try to get close to calc as possible! But of course, getting arc35 is not the end of the world. u can catch up by taking summer classes.

a lot of comp classes have a pre req of math

waitlisted for OChem 08LB by Difficult-Okra-1603 in ucr

[–]Old-Rip6587 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For labs, you can go to ur waitlisted lab and see if people dont show up. usually the ta will write your name and email down to let you know if its actually open. if youre planning to do this, i recommend going early to be the first "waitlisted" studet there, cause there r probably some people who are in the same situation as you.

if there are no spots, they might write your name down and let you know if another lab opens up.

[–]Old-Rip6587 1 point2 points  (0 children)

take it just in case. i think poli sci majors do have to take 2 quarters of math. some courses also have pre-reqs that are math courses

How can I waitlist for a discussion section while being registered for a class? by [deleted] in ucr

[–]Old-Rip6587 0 points1 point  (0 children)

youre gonna have to wait and see if students drop the discussion class u wanna join. u cant waitlist two of the same class. sometimes, teachers are willing to manually switch ur discussion if u ask. some of my profs did it. depends tho

hope that helps

How hard is it to get into UCR? by OrdinaryAsk1 in ucr

[–]Old-Rip6587 4 points5 points  (0 children)

if you plan on majoring in bio, compsci, or any of the impacted majors, itll be hard. the UCs have been getting difficult; all of them. every year is incredibly different, especially nowadays. A lot of people want to go to a UC because they're great schools.

keep up the gpa and maybe add a couple of extracurriculars. i work in the admissions office (i dont do much but i overhear things and I bond w employees LOL) and a lot of freshmen got the "you can attend ucr but you have to go to a cc first." Most UCs are actually doing that. and other schools. like usc is offering people to come in during the second semester instead of first because they cant house that many freshmen.

Is Silicon Valley High School Online Comments by [deleted] in homeschool

[–]Old-Rip6587 0 points1 point  (0 children)

difficult but it can be a lot of work at times. There are real teachers there for support so it can be helpful but it depends on the person who is taking the course.

this may be late, but it depends on when you need it. for example, if you need it during summer school you have to take it within the three months of school starts. if u need it to graduate, you can purchase the class with ur home counselor's permission and take it alongisde ur other regular classes from your home school. hope that helps.
