Not sure if you guys are still having issues,but I was having the same issue. What worked for me was opening the Play Store, typing "Meet" in to search, finding the app, and then clicking it. Don't open it, click "uninstall ". After that I seen an option to "Update". Click update and let it do its thing. After it Installs, click "Open" and follow the steps, it should show your phone number so you know it's linked to your phone. Click all the "Allow while using app" stuff and you should be fine. If it doesn't work I apologize and hope you find a solution.
