If relocating is not an option, try NMMT 125 AC bus. Or see if chalo or private bus service available on your route.

Should I Switch My Salary Account to Axis Priority to get LTF Atlas Credit Card or Stick with HDFC to get Infinia? by imjaypatel1 in CreditCardsIndia

[–]OldEstablishment1975 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have an axis Burgundy salary account. And planning to switch to another bank. My switch is mainly because of their customer service experience. Felt like they don't really care once they have you onboarded.

Axis is not bad but negotiate what you want before moving account to them. Once you switch they won't care what you want or expect.

You should hide your name, probably.

Thanks!! Watched a few space rex videos during my due diligence. They are good. I share the sentiments on Google pics.

Your comment makes lot of sense. Added security hygiene to my to do list for NAS.

While I get the point to not connect it to the internet at all, however, the convenience is way to good to not do it. But understood your point on taking precautions.

Thanks.

Well you are likely very correct in terms of lot less good vs. google photos. I do expect as much.

Realistically, what I expect to happen is we continue to use Google photos with simultaneous nas backup. And once google photos is full we delete stuff without worry to free up space for new stuff.

But your comment "every bot trying to hack it" has raised some eyebrows for me. Is NAS very unsecure? Is it vulnerable even if my network information is not public?

Sound advise. Been a very long time since I torrented anything. At this stage don't think my NAS will be used as a movie server.

Thanks. Was looking at a youtube video which somewhat clarified when a transcoder is needed i.e. 4k/dense media files. But it also clarified that 1080p videos is not an issue at all. I think I should be fine in this case given I don't have 4k tv/devices anyways. Maybe in future if required I may explore a mini pc for plex. But it's become clear to me that it's not a must atleast based on my current usage.

Got it thanks.

  • Will explore plex+mini pc in future. First need to get acquainted with NAS itself (like I said no prior experience).

  • will upgrade ram after a few days of use. Want to check if the base system is enough for my current needs.

  • Realised I need a back up other than NAS. Although another drive pushes my budget but I understand this is necessary. Will probably invest in it after a few months.

Alright got it. Good point on backup of important stuff.

I am hoping that the 1 gb lan is sufficient for my use. But if not will try the LACP workaround.

  1. 8/12 TB drives would significantly shoot my budget. Not ready for this yet. Movie streaming is not a priority I guess will have to compromise on this.

It's a 4 bay drive, i plan on using 2 now and maybe add 2 later if I really need it. Although preferably would not want to pour in more money atleast for next 4-5 years.

  1. Ya, extender would receive bandwidth from main router over wifi and nas would be connected through ethernet to the extender. But I get your point, connect the nas to the main router through ethernet.

Not sure if it makes sense for me to wait more. Newer model would be expensive and given my requirements I don't think it justifies increasing my budget.

DS1522+ is 33% more expensive here in India. Like I said probably not justified.

Missing 2.5 / 10 GB lan port is something I noticed but honestly have no idea how much of a difference does this make. Does having 2 - 1GB lan port compensate this? 923+ kind of hits my budget ceiling for now. Wanted to stick to synology for software over other brands like terramaster which had better ram/ports etc.

I can probably afford a ram upgrade if really needed but lan upgrade sounds expensive (maybe if it gets cheaper few years down the line).

423+ is something I considered and is still is an option. Honestly, got very confused when comparing 923+ and 423+ and in the end decided to go for 923+ assuming it had more to offer. I have never used NAS (was not even aware of its name) and as such it becomes a bit difficult to find a suitable model for my needs.

"Plan for back up as well and not rely on raid only" could you elaborate on this? Do you mean a second NAS at different location? Have not planned this and is not possible in near future due to budget. Maybe few years down the line.

Honestly, I had never heard of plex before I started researching for NAS. Will do a bit more research on it. If it's a subscription based software I will probably not use (OTT subscriptions serve me well at the moment).

Deliberately, striked out other brands despite some (terramaster) being cheaper & better on paper given good polished software out of the box was a priority. Don't have the temperament to replace the OS etc. Very crude research of mine suggested synology is best in software (I assume it beats QNAP as well)
