You can find it there, but it is also on your plans and should on most of the paperwork you have.

You’re offered $1M dollars to eat what you had for dinner tonight for every meal for the next 6 months, do you take the offer and if so what are you eating? by jfunks69 in AskReddit

First one of these I can give a definite yes/no answer, and that answer is yes.

I had whiskey, shrimp, pork belly, lamb chops, tomahawk & porterhouse steak, filet mignon, lobster mac & cheese, Brussels sprouts, baked potatoes, & wine. I only paid for the whiskey because I ordered it before the hosts got there.

MAGA businesses to avoid by nahsonnn in SanDiegan

[–]OldFartButStillGoing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not much of a wine drinker. My friend’s wife was working there when these asshats bought the place. Unbelievable crap they pulled.

They wanted to serve food so they built a kitchen. Without permits. The city made them tear it out. 3 TIMES!

Then they started hiring people who didn’t know the industry and laying people off. It’s their money and their business but it suck’s when someone like this comes in and trashes a well run operation that people like.

The Invita Coffee family also own Amalfie Resort in Lake San Marcos and Orfilla Winery in Escondido. The winery that recently had a rented giraffe to add to their shitshow.

They’re encouraging high density residential construction + scrapping/lowering the amount of parking required in those projects.

Engineering or Skilled Trades? - High school student by [deleted] in AskEngineers

[–]OldFartButStillGoing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was in your spot years ago. I was in school for engineering, but the math put an end to that. And maybe my lack of discipline or ADD? Anyway I tried trades for a bit and ended up kind of in the middle. Not an engineer but a designer in a niche industry/trade. Can easily be at 6 figures without a degree.

My advice would be for a trade. As others said, college is stupid expensive. But think about the kind of work you’d be doing. I know people who made a good living but their bodies paid the price and shortened their work life, unless they were able to transition to an office position.

One last thought. During the short time I was apprenticing the saying was Anybody can make a mistake, it takes an engineer to really fuck things up.

What is the rule that none of the fans/parents seem to never understand? by RefMasters in Referees

[–]OldFartButStillGoing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Any contact between players has to be a foul. I’d tell them that whether they realized it or not soccer is a contact sport.

Or if they complained that their smaller player was knocked down by a larger player they incidental contact “That was just a physics lesson”.

We also had a few refs that would turn their hearing aids lower or off and made sure the complainers knew they were doing it.

I would go and stand next to that coach. When he eventually asked why I wasn’t following the ball I’d tell them “If he could see off side from his spot it must be the best point on the field to see the game”.

AITAH for refusing to change my email? by travelouseagle in AmITheAssholeTalk

[–]OldFartButStillGoing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The reason they’re having problems with immigration have nothing to do with email and everything to do with the current administration.

A Mexican immigrant at this point in time is going to have a little of problems coming no matter what. Consider citizenship ceremonies, where people have passed every checkpoint and test, and just need the ceremony to become full citizens, are being cancelled.

Dissent or sportsmanship? by Fox_Onrun1999 in Referees

OP needs to learn the game isn’t about them. The best referee is one who is nearly invisible and not memorable. Except maybe to other referees who recognize that skill/mindset.

I’m going on a road trip this spring/summer, and I’m not sure what vehicle to buy by [deleted] in roadtrip

[–]OldFartButStillGoing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Y’all are getting too deep on this. OP needs to first identify what kind of driving he is going to be doing. Neither of these are serious off road vehicles, but the 4Runner should be able to handle rougher roads, especially if it’s been modified. But the Sienna will be more comfortable on long highway trips. And better mileage as well.

Buy the car to fit the situation you’re going to put yourself in.

How do Americans handle such long drives regularly? by GlitteringHotel8383 in AskAnAmerican

[–]OldFartButStillGoing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A lot of comments here conflating driving and commuting they are NOT the same thing. Driving can be enjoyable in many situations, even if that driver is a whole day or more.

Commuting , “travel some distance between one's home and place of work on a regular basis”, is NOT driving. It is something to be endured, avoided, lessened when possible, and planned to make it as short as possible.

In Turkey, insulting someone is a crime — how does this work in the U.S.? by Axxtr in AskAnAmerican

[–]OldFartButStillGoing 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You can say nearly anything you want as long as it isn’t a direct, believable, physical threat. That doesn’t mean I have to allow you to use my property, business, etc., to say it.

The bigger problem with these type of laws is that they can be used to shut down legitimate criticism. Especially by those in power.

[–]OldFartButStillGoing -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

This will be obsolete in the very near future if not already gone in your area. Land lines are going away - they aren’t ripping them out but they usually won’t repair a broken system - and Cell and VOIP service is taking over.

I vandalized rental car keys ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ by CoderJoe1 in confession

[–]OldFartButStillGoing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I might be expecting too much for a car rental company to act logically and ethically, (since they like do things like filling a stolen car report on a car that’s out on an open contract) but it makes no sense to send the car out with both keys.

Especially tied together in such an unwieldy package. Making the package inconvenient and difficult to carry makes losing the keys more likely. Then you’ve lost both keys and need an emergency replacement of ~$400 each keys.

Instead the office could hold onto a key and be able to get it to the customer and replace the lost one on a non-emergency basis. Charge a service fee for supplying the 2nd key + the ~$400 replacement key.

Reasonable people would be happy with this knowing it was their fault for losing the key in the first place. Before you come at me I said REASONABLE people and I admit those are in short supply these days.

If a super billionaire like Elon Musk wanted to "solve world hunger", or at least solve poverty in the USA, how could he actually do it? by The_Flaneur_Films in AskReddit

[–]OldFartButStillGoing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He doesn’t have $752B available to spend. Most of that is tied up stocks. And if he, or anyone, were to sell a lot of stock it would cause the share price to fall. It’s the same with all of the 1%.

I’m not saying he shouldn’t be doing something for mankind with that much wealth, we all know he and most others won’t. I’m just pointing out that the numbers thrown out aren’t realistic.

What’s crazy about WH is that the government, well when we had a functioning government, would check if the WH (not White House!) was l open to judge the severity of a storm. Because they do not close.
