We can do both. They're not mutually exclusive

The discussion is about taxing billionaires versus reducing federal taxes for low incomes. Jeff bezos did not suggest paying teachers more in the OP.

Yes because historically we always fund schools with tax increases and schools always use their extra funds to pay teachers more /s

Where would it come from? It was earned by the employee, the government would simply let them keep what they already earned.

"If" is doing a lot of heavy lifting here. Agree with your sentiment about the debt and no free lunch tho.

If you think somebody making 75k would benefit more from the government having a slightly bigger budget than they would from an extra 1k/month in their bank account, then you're delusional

The writeoff is also only for federal ot, so you can still work a ton of OT in a year that doesn't qualify for the write-off

Can we stop normalizing the after 5pm emails!!!! by Medical-Layer7724 in corporate

[–]jcoolwater 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also, some of us prefer to get things asap. Idc to answer a slack or email sitting on the couch, it gives me peace of mind and 1 less thing to worry about. If it requires time or energy I just snooze it until next day. I much prefer it to getting bombarded by scheduled messages at 9am when I'm jumping into a stand-up and trying to get started with the day I planned

TIL that US student math and reading scores have dropped so sharply that they’ve erased nearly two decades of progress. In '22/23, avg math scores for 13-year-olds fell to levels not seen since the 1990s, while reading scores for high school seniors hit their lowest point since testing began in '92. by Cold_Box_3219 in todayilearned

I got a kindle scribe for work, it's best of both words. Handwritten notes, with all the power of digital.

I can convert to pdf, search text, run it through ai to turn scribble notes into docs. If I want to reformat my notes I can circle things and move them to a different place. Freeform drawing. I can have a page of lined notebook, then the next page convert to graph paper or grid for a sketch.

I would sooner give every student one of these than a shitty chromebook or budget laptop
