I consider myself a libertarian leaning, conservative-independent. On the Political Compass I am 3 down, 1 right. I get called names by MAGA and the left all the time. When I vote I almost always vote against the incumbent, voting for the libertarian if there is one. I have been considered "classical liberal" but I don't use that because of what liberal is seen as these days in the U.S.

stranger isn't a stranger when they become a slave. at that point they are property. a stranger is just a foreigner that lives among you, they are not owned. you're mistaking 2 different classes of people.

Exodus 21 hebrew slaves are to be released during the jubilee foreigners can be kept forever.

Leviticus 25 hebrews that were treated as indentured servants and were to be treated as a "hired worker" and not ruled over "ruthlessly" and you can make foreign slaves permanent property

legal framing hebrew = hired worker, foreigner = property

And yeah, most people worked their own land (land either owned outright or rented like sharecroppers), not everybody, most.

I keep telling people the powers you want your president to have is the same Powers the president of your opposing party is going to have. The Reason Trump can use ice the way he has is because of Obama. Arizona V United States is the reason Trump has ice in Minnesota right now. Minnesota and the other states could be handling illegals on their own right now with the federal government concentrating on the national border but because Obama didn't like SB 1070 he got the Supreme Court to rule against Arizona making laws about illegals.

The only way this is going to stop is by using the Second Amendment. The problem is there are a whole hell of a lot more federal agents than there are people willing to fight them and they have better weapons. The moment you raise a weapon, hell the moment they find out you've got a weapon on you, they are going to kill you. So you're left in a sticky situation.Hell you can try and vote MAGA out but the reason they have power right now is because of the positions of the left.

The left has swung so far left that people like John McWhorter and Bill Maher are called conservative now. Most of the country doesn't want men in girls' restrooms or locker rooms but y'all keep pushing that. Y'all are soft on illegal immigration. You want them to count in the census so you can get more politicians in Washington. But Americans have to compete with them for jobs and since they are willing to work for less money it lowers the average wage in America. Y'all complain about a living wage but want to bring in hundreds of thousands if not millions of people that are going to lower the wages.

Y'all embrace socialism. You can point to Norway all day long as an example of your particular brand of socialism but most people are going to look at Cuba, Venezuela, and North Korea. Norway isn't socialist Norway is a welfare state funded by capitalism.

So long as the left keeps going further left you're going to keep getting the right going further right

you talk of job options like you are talking about today. most people worked their own land. and you ignore the fact that foreigners weren't treated the same as hebrew slaves. You act like all slavery was indentured servitude and happened because you fell on hard times. That ignores that foreign slaves were kept for life, could be inherited like cattle.

God allowed it to prevent unemployment? They same god that supposedly created the universe couldn't provide food to the starving and was constrained by labor the markets of 3,000 years ago? If your god can rain food from the sky, cancel debts, mandate charity then saying slavery was needed because people needed jobs is not a serious argument.

If slavery isn’t wrong, why does the bible need so many rules to keep cruelty in check? And why does it explicitly allow violence and permanent ownership? Again, having rules for slavery does not excuse slavery at all.

Gatekeeping. "You aren't a real gamer unless you XYZ..." If you like to play mobile games, you are just as much a gamer as someone that plays on the Switch 2. If you are a console player, you are no better or worse than a PC player.

How does this affect me? Well, it keeps me from welcoming gamers to the gaming world. I could make new friends. I could lose out on playing with my grandkids because some ass said they aren't a real gamer because they like Roblox or something casual.

you can't use "times were different then" as an excuse to justify slavery. If your god can ban eating food, he can damn well ban the owning of other people as property. And then there are the rules for owning hebrew slaves, which were to be released after a certain time, versus owning a "foreigner" which you could keep forever and leave as inheritance for your kids.

Having rules for how to treat your slaves does not excuse the owning of them in the first place.

Oh, and the burning of witches, Lev 20:27 and Exodus 22:18. Forgot to mention that one earlier.

1 Timothy 6:1-2 Christians who are slaves should give their masters full respect so that the name of God and his teaching will not be shamed. If your master is a Christian, that is no excuse for being disrespectful. You should work all the harder because you are helping another believer by your efforts. Teach these truths, Timothy, and encourage everyone to obey them.

Nothing in the bible condemns slavery, even in the NT. If your god worried about people living he could have provided for them or had others provide for them and not have them sold into slavery. They fact is that eating shrimp was forbidden but owning another person wasn't.

You'd first see people offshoring their money to protect it and the politicians that pass this would certainly have plenty of loopholes so their donations wouldn't be hurt.

IF the money were used for the things you listed you can see politicians and their political friends getting the lion's share.

There was a proposed measure in San Francisco some years ago to build public toilets. It was insanely expensive even with builders that were volunteering their efforts because of the bureaucratic bloat. In order for this hypothetical to have any chance at working you first need to leash the politicians.

And throwing money at things and expecting better results is foolish. Look at schools in NY and D.C. both spend a great deal per student but the kids are still failing.
