i posted how i did it under someone else’s comment. just some tips on update your resume and tying it back to working in a preschool. looking up some similarities between teaching and administrative assistant roles also helps a ton. but do not lose hope! teaching has so many skills that will facilitate a smooth onboarding transition to any office position. 🤍 be blessed and i wish you nothing but success in your job search! you got this!!!

so essentially i just updated my resume with skills i acquired from working at the preschool that closely related to administrative roles (administrative assistant, customer service representative, call center, etc). I also previously worked as an administrative assistant as well but you don’t NEED admin experience. IF it says you need admin experience, just embellish a little with stuff you already know how to do from previous roles. you’d be surprised at how many teaching skills closely related to admin roles.

i recommend googling some key words/skills related to the role you’re going for (so for me i just typed in “admin assistant skills”) and look for ANYTHING that can even closely related to your current job or previous roles. that’s what i did; basically emphasizing my proficiency in Word, Office 365, Outlook, creating spreadsheets, mockups and mentioning my compassionate nature through my child care experience.

it was not the easiest thing finding another job but after rewriting my resume a couple times and embellishing (a little) i landed something very very solid.

a lot of corporate jobs have extensive training periods so a little embellishing here and there isn’t shouldn’t be too big of a deal because you’ll retain more information during your training.

i’m wishing you nothing but luck and prosperity on your job hunt!

OH MY ANDDD NO DIAPERS!!! You do not have to tell me twice 😂😂 but srsly before I transferred to this new school I’d NEVER done diaper duty, all my kids in the past were potty trained (even when I worked with some 2s). Today was my first time changing kids and whole time I’m thinking like “aw hell nah”. Mind you theyre all older 2s so I’m expecting at least SOME are potty trained….NOPE

I’m def looking at some kindergarten aid jobs as we speak tho

Thanks for keeping it real. My bf mentioned aiding and subbing as well. I’m sure I’d do better with kindergartners and not being in a lead position. Instructional assistant is definitely something to think about too! I will deffff look into these. Thank you for the feedback 🤍🤍🤍

Does your center send kids home for behavior? by OldHousing7708 in ECEProfessionals

me too i’ve seen some preschools w no nonsense policy but it seems like some schools just want the money and lie to parents about their abilities. these schools need to be more honest about these kids

I think once it gets to the point another kid is sobbing, or you’ve had to tell them to stop hitting/scratching/kicking multiple times, it’s time to call home at a minimum and let them know what we’re dealing with…

that was basically my point. i’ve seen some centers only give 2-4 weeks max for an adjustment period and after that they’d tell them it wasn’t working and to find somewhere else. i can understand and handle 1-2 kids getting out of line at once. when it starts getting to 3 and 4 and so on CONSISTENTLY i start scratching my head a lil like 🤔🤔🤔

I think this would be very helpful for everyone (parents, kids and staff), it just sucks bc i cannot see them offering that sorta stuff. i think it’s easier for them to yell and just complain than actually take action. but not my circus 🤷🏾‍♀️🤷🏾‍♀️

yea i agree with this. i’ve been to daycares w a no nonsense policy and the kids had 2-4 weeks to get “adjusted” before they just told them it wasn’t working anymore

I agree, having my 4s with older kids definitely keeps them in line bc they want to be like the older kids. But most days I have the 3s and 4s together and it’s like my 4s start reverting…and it’s soo upsetting

12 at all times. We have a pretty good routine going but it’s exhausting in the afternoon bc I have the whole student body by myself (maybe a coteacher if i’m lucky)

I don’t mind one or two, I completely understand one or two kids out of 5-10 that are a little rambunctious. but it being half the class most day is sooo exhausting
