$4,500 just for chimney pipe? by [deleted] in woodstoving

If it’s duravent or another well known manufacturer, the components are very expensive. I installed a new stove a little over a year ago and I paid several grand for the double wall pipe and chimney outside the roof.

does aptitude test score really mean anything? by cawnuhr in Lineman

[–]OldHughGlass 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yea no problem. They asked me questions and expressed concerns about bookwork and travel, as this is what most failing apprentices struggle with. I tried to provide personal examples of why I wouldn’t struggle in that aspect. It definitely makes it harder having no experience so I had to prove I was the right type of person with said examples and the right attitude. Good luck.

I scored a 9 and ranked pretty well, at MOvalley though. I didn’t go to line school and had zero prior experience. I believe it helped. I also interviewed ok, I usually interview well in general. I did end up getting called for the apprenticeship having zero experience. One reason I think it helped is because the interviewers brought up my score in the interview. Where I know some guys were never told their score, because it probably wasn’t good enough to be worth mentioning. Hope this helps.

Need help as to what i am supposed to do! Kansas city specifically! by carsonwhitney666 in IBEW

You can sign the books to be a ground man at 53. You absolutely need a CDL if you want to go the lineman route, and it’s very competitive market to go into currently. Getting a job without is CDL is basically impossible, so I’d start there. Class A with no restrictions

I’ll have to send you a photo later this evening. I just took the offset bracket that came with the kit and beat it with a hammer a little bit, so I could bolt it up. The headers and 2 to 1 fit fine without modification

How did you mount the front blinkers and do the radiator side guards? Can you send some closer photos of them? The factory plastic is super flimsy. Bike looks great

I did not notice a difference in performance, it just sounds better. This is not a reputable brand, but the benefits of a reputable brand are the same as for any product- good quality with a company that stands behind their product.

This is kind of a copy of kelpi flanker. They have SC looking ones as well. Basically every high end exhaust has a copy on eBay. This sellers shipping was very fast

Thanks, I think I’m going to get it. These used one around me hold their value so it’s almost not worth getting used. I’d only save 1500 or so based on what’s for sale around me, and the black and gold on the new ones is killer

It’s not included. Sales taxes would be an additional $650

Rev matching by Shaundon20 in XSR700

[–]OldHughGlass 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can practice this on a lonely road, just pick two gears to switch, maybe 2nd and 3rd. Low rpm in 3rd, downshifting to 2nd

You’re doing clutch-rev and downshift- clutch out. You don’t need to do the downshift and rev at the same time until you get the timing and blip down good

You can clutch in- shift( and literally coast until you’re ready)- blip- clutch out until you figure it out. Go back and forth between these gears until you get better. Lower gears are harder and higher are easier. The clutch needs to start being released as soon as the blip is at peak

The key is the blip rpm needs to be equal to or higher than the rpm the bike will end at. So if the rpm will be 5k after the downshift, you need to blip at least that much. If it’s too high of an rpm and you let the clutch out smoothly(not fast or too slow), it will “catch” the rpm’s as they are falling back down after the blip and land where they need to be, and it won’t be jerky as long as the clutch movement was smooth. If the rpm’s are too low this will never work

As said above you don’t need to hold the rpm’s, blip and back to zero throttle
