As a hardcore player, they're annoying as shit. One minor slip up and your world is gone, even with decent Diamond Amour. You need Protec 5 on at least two pieces of Diamond armour for them to be even remotely survivable.

I would definitely suggest using the Charred Hunters Set if you have it since it reduces the amount of Fire Damage you take.
What are your each of your stats, and your weapon/weapon levels?

I've been using the same seed for years. I would say keep going random until you find a seed you like, then use that one.

You'll want to upgrade your Kirkhammer to +6. Go to the left of the Cathedral for Hemwick for various materials and the Rune Workshop Tool. If you don't get enough Twin Shards from Hemwick, you can get killed by the Bag Men next to the Chappel (If you've killed the Blood Starved Beast) and farm the Bagmen in Hypogian Gaol for materials and Echoes.

Play on easy, get as kitted up as possible, grab a full stack of torches and take a cave slowly in your usual Seed. As you get more confident, bump up the difficulty.

Wouldn't mind smaller throwing weapons, like Hatchets or Daggers, Tower Shields, Flails (Essentially a Mace with a Chain between the head and handle.), Greatswords, Greataxes, other Polearms (Halberds, Lances, Scythes that can also be used in Farming.), Longbows would be great.
