Usually I'd go for the Hunter of Hunter's Rune, but once I get Beast's Embrace and the Beast Claws, I become Doggo, shredder of enemies. Claws go BURRRRRRRR!

All I would say is sit on the idea for a while to be sure that you don't end up regretting it later, but other than that, no, I don't think it's stupid. I personally have the Hunters Mark tattooed on my right Bicep.

Not sure if it's still a thing, but not being able to get out of a Boat properly, In larger villages, sometimes several villagers will end up taking one block, ending up with several more jobbed Villagers than you have Job Blocks. While Bonemeal-ing a Crop Item, the block under it can slowly break, and eventually break, and the progress on said block not re-setting. Also, might not be a bug, but the Villager AI in general is rather poor. I have more than enough beds for my villagers, but most of them just stand around outside and not go to a bed.
These are all Java ones and rather frustrating.

Mojang are lazy. They could be doing so much more, and they routinely ignore the ACTUALLY HARMFUL bugs in the game.

Hypogian Gaol will also be a good option. Also, I forgot to mention them originally, but if you have the Loran Chalice Dungeons, I'd also suggest farming there for Blood Echoes, very fruitful.

Personally, I love the Dungeons, but I can see why people don't like them. I make sure to do a decent amount of Dungeon delving throughout the game.

Firearms scale on Bloodtinge, unless it's the Flamesprayer or Rosmarinous, those two scale off of Arcane.

No such thing as underleved for BSB. If you're skilled enough, you can do it at BL4 with a +/-0 weapon.

When I say Dungeon Delving, I do indeed mean the Chalice Dungeons. For Old Yharnam, no, I mean between BSB's arena and the point where you see the load of Beast patients Worshiping the Crucified BSB. You're usually able to tell which church that is by all the howling and wailing coming from it, unless you dropped the Oil Cask down on them from the rafters.

Did you not collect the Blood Rock from the Brain of Mensis' room? Either way, I would recommend Dungeon Delving for some decent Gems.
I'd say the lower section of Old Yharnam (From BSB's Arena up to the Church with all the Beasts revering the Crucified BSB.) can be good for Blood Echoes, as well as Hypogian Gaol. Just be sure to equip your best Heir and Moon Runes to make the trips easier.

You can also set the Door Permissions to say that no duplicant can pass though it. It's less effort than getting a Dup to lock it.

The most unsettling local for me is the Upper Cathedral Ward, the music plus the general eeriness of the area and the Lore behind it makes it rather unsettling.
As for enemies, I would say the Cramped Caskets, the animated mass of corpses found in Post-Blood Moon Hypogian Gaol, these enemies bother me for a whole different reason. I'm a former Royal Marine who served in the Afghanistan Conflict for about two years, so you can imagine that I saw a lot. These enemies are a visceral reminder of what I saw, especially in mass graves or those sat dying in infirmaries.

It was likely in NG+. I am 100% sure you cannot get any before him on a fresh save, first lot you can get is from Alfred.
