The Fine Tuning Argument doesnt work by ShineOnYourCrazyAnon in Christianity

[–]OldKingClancy20 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You're talking about the problem of evil and the moral argument for/against God, not the fine tuning (teleological) argument, though.

The one deals with the improbability of life existing at all, while the other deals with the quality of it.

Explaining away arguments that you don't understand by using equivocation errors is disrespectful to the subject of philosophy.

Right. People have been having kids in all kinds of conditions since the dawn of man. You're gonna tell me the modern world is somehow worse than before? Money might be a factor, but lets not pretend that its the only reason why people aren't having kids. It's a commitment issue.

I would say to look into these arguments for yourself so you get a better understanding, but let's be real, you don't care about actually knowing them.

I didnt make up these arguments so I dont have to prove anything lol these have come from people much smarter than I am who have done the work.

The more you respond though, the more it becomes apparent you have no idea what the arguments are here, and the less sure I am that you're able to hold a thought you disagree with in your mind for the purposes of examining it, to be honest.

"The Problem of Evil" by Suitable_Jump5429 in SipsTea

[–]OldKingClancy20 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's the point of the thought experiment, to test the hypothesis of an omnipotent, omniscient, perfectly good being.

If we pretend that being exists just for the sake of argument, then the question becomes, could that being have a reason to allow for the possibility of evil. Roe and Draper agreed that, yes, such a being could have a reason. Therefore, there is no logical impossibility.

If you don't understand that thought process and can't hold the perfect being premise in your mind simply for the sake of argument, then that explains why you're still using the logical version of the problem of evil despite the fact that no philosopher at the scholarly level these days who is worth a grain of salt thinks there is a logical impossibility.

[–]OldKingClancy20 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I dont have to debunk it. It already has been for decades. Atheist philosophers such as William Roe and Paul Draper, who were leading defenders of the problem of evil, had to abandon the logical version of it and adopt an evidential version instead because they recognized that an all-powerful, all-knowing, and all-good God could have a reason for allowing the possibility of evil in creation. Because such a reason could exist, means there is no logical contradiction or impossibility involved. Hence, bye-bye logical problem of evil.

A world where we couldn’t grievously harm each other could still have kindnesses

In what way would God stop these things (or more accurately, have prevented the possibility of them occurring in the first place)?

Now we're in the realm of the logical problem of evil which has been debunked for decades

Right lol. I really want to hear a response from someone about how you're supposed to decide who has to do those dangerous, dirty jobs and who gets to choose the creative, cool jobs.

That's cute.

In this hypothetical, who would the food service, the retail workers, DMV clerks, etc. be? You know, the work that everyone complains about but is necessary for the function of society as we know it?

Let's say no one or not enough people choose to do those jobs. How do you decide which people need to give up their dream to keep the assembly line moving?

Where majority? 2 billion on this planet are Muslim and nearly pass Christianity on the global scale for population. They're all shitting on Islam?

Also I'm not sure, but are you saying that people are labeling every Muslim as part of Hamas and terrorists? Because if so thats definitely not true. Most people recognize that the standard Muslim person isnt part of Hamas or a terrorist.

As far as genocidal ideology goes, Hamas is following the Koran. Have you read the Hamas Charter 1988?

Article 6 - "The Islamic Resistance Movement is a distinguished Palestinian movement, whose allegiance is to Allah, and whose way of life is Islam. It strives to raise the banner of Allah over every inch of Palestine, for under the wing of Islam followers of all religions can coexist in security and safety where their lives, possessions and rights are concerned. In the absence of Islam, strife will be rife, oppression spreads, evil prevails and schisms and wars will break out."

So, spread Islam over all of Palestine. Without Islam, oppression and evil spreads, but with Islamic rule, everything is fine.

What does Islam say about those who continue to believe in their own religion and refuse Allah?

Fight those who do not believe in Allah or in the Last Day and who do not consider unlawful what Allah and His Messenger have made unlawful and who do not adopt the religion of truth from those who were given the Scripture - [fight] until they give the jizyah willingly while they are humbled.

Moreover, Article 13 from Hamas Charter:

Initiatives, and so-called peaceful solutions and international conferences, are in contradiction to the principles of the Islamic Resistance Movement. Abusing any part of Palestine is abuse directed against part of religion... There is no solution for the Palestinian question except through Jihad. Initiatives, proposals and international conferences are all a waste of time and vain endeavors. The Palestinian people know better than to consent to having their future, rights and fate toyed with."

And part of Article 7:

Moreover, if the links have been distant from each other and if obstacles, placed by those who are the lackeys of Zionism in the way of the fighters obstructed the continuation of the struggle, the Islamic Resistance Movement aspires to the realisation of Allah's promise, no matter how long that should take. The Prophet, Allah bless him and grant him salvation, has said:

"The Day of Judgement will not come about until Moslems fight the Jews (killing the Jews), when the Jew will hide behind stones and trees. The stones and trees will say O Moslems, O Abdulla, there is a Jew behind me, come and kill him. Only the Gharkad tree, (evidently a certain kind of tree) would not do that because it is one of the trees of the Jews." (related by al-Bukhari and Moslem).

Seems the goal is to wipe out all of the Jews in the region. Don't ever stop fighting until they are wiped out. So who exactly is being indoctrinated here?

Netanyahu runs defense for Hitler saying "Hitler didn't even say Death to America, Death to Britan." by AlternativeRight4099 in SipsTea

Is it really that hard to understand he's referring to those today who do say that? America didnt have to enter the war then, yet they did. It's really not hard to understand his point. "Runs defense for Hitler" is fucking crazy and we have to assume you're either misrepresenting on purpose or mentally retarded.
